Stoning Clarkson, it's what we all want.

Far from it - you've totally misunderstood my post.
I am completely happy with my life. I wouldn't swap roles with Clarkson for twice the money he earns and the cars he drives.
I stopped watching Top Gear some time ago as it has completely lost the plot as a motoring programme.
It's a comedy show - and if you like it that's fine -but it doesn't appeal to me - I find Clarkson a buffoon - a clever, rich buffoon - but still a buffoon nevertheless.
Have you read any of his books?
Or his newspaper column?
I do not like humour at the expense of others - especially with racial and sexist overtones.0 -
It was a joke, sorry

Yeah read his books, find him entertaining.
Top Gear is just entertainment, not to be taken too seriously.
In these touchy feely politically correct times it's refreshing to have someone (a big idiot) go against the grain and not conform. At least for me.0 -

OK - maybe I misunderstood your post.
I found his early stuff entertaining - but he seems to have a desire to deliberately offend and shock these days.
Some of the 'specials' are truly wonderful - like finding the source of the River Nile.
But humour at the expense of 'Johnny Foreigner' is no longer acceptable.
I think in years to come we will look back at some TG shows like we now look back at programmes like 'Please Sir' and 'It ain't half hot Mum'.
See any repeats of the 'Black & White Minstrel Show' recently?
Plenty 'Dad's Army' though - they even show then in Deutschland.0 -

Ferdinand Porsche designed a car for Adolf Hitler but people seemed to get over that...0

Since we're already a little OT ... I remember Love Thy Neighbour was a popular sitcom in the early-mid '70s. That would NEVER be repeated these days!0

Ever seen the first Mike Reid Live?
He says "I hear we've got a black bloke in tonight, give us a smile sweetheart so we can see you" and the camera shows the chap in question in hysterics, he loved it.
Maybe a few white do gooders would have taken offence on his behalf, that's the usual way.0
