CBC, You've got it spot on there with it being the most expensive time of the year but I think we all need to focus on it being a marathon rather than a sprint so whether we add today, tomorrow or some time in January it doesn't really matter as long as we are adding funds when we can. I'm sure you will update yours very soon :T

I totally agree with you, Dobbibill about the time scale for the challenge (or rather that there isn't one):T. I just meant that when there are so many calls on the money people have available it amazes me that anyone has anything leftover to save just before Christmas:eek:.0 -
Number 35 here to hang her head in shame
:o:o:o
In all the usual panic to get ready for Christmas I have overspent and had to withdraw my hard saved £154 Emergency fund back into the bank account:(:(:(:(.
I vow to start fresh in January. No month hits my "Must provide an amazing time" button like Christmas does and yet again I have gotten carried away.
I have lots of plans to debt bust in the new year and starting my Emergency fund again is high on that list.
So ashamed

Hi all. Would very much like to join this challenge please. I haven't yet sorted out my budget for next year and so may be a while before I next check in.
I am aiming for £3000 emergency fund, enough to cover me for 3+ months of unemployment.
Initially I want to build £1000 emergency fund. Once this is saved I will split all spare cash one third to the fund, one third to paying back my family debt and the last third for decorating my flat or treats. My urge to decorate is going to be a big incentive to save this as quickly as possible!
Will update as soon as I am certain what I have left in my account for this month - still need to change the locks and buy a fridge at the minimum.19/12/14: Spent 10 years of savings!!
:heart2: ..... to buy my first home. :heart2:

Uh today had the news that a cooker we are responsible for has broken down. Right before Christmas. Cost to call an engineer out £45. Then it will be parts on top. Praying for a good result tommorow but we may have to dip into our fund if this turns into needing a new oven. That's £150 for the cheapest decent one I can find. Just in time to have exactly that in our fund for the coming month...Grrrrr." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Oh Bob, that's really annoying about the cooker but at least you have the cash in the emergency fund to deal with it. Would have been a lot more frustrating if you had no fund at allDebt free since May 20150
