    i am quite happy with Win 8.1.

    Se no real reason to upgrade, unless it's free of course.

    Windows is on version 6 and has been since Vista. (Windows 8.1 is version 6.3).

    6.4 is the Kernel version, not the Windows version.

    Don't forget Microsoft like skipping versions every now and then. Word went from version 2 to version 6.
