i had a door stop door installed about a month ago. the door itself is fine, no problem, but the lock rattles everytime i open it, just feels cheap. also the lock will no longer unlock from the outside but ive yet to speak with the installers, could just be one of those things.
also, although it has a low threshold, theyve put it on top of the old cill which had they asked i would have said dont do that.0 -
It is LOVELY!!! :T Looks really stunning. Fantastic choice.
It also looks really neat without the letterbox, what a good idea. Am now envious of your porch, stained glass and brickwork too, in addition to the door!
I was interested that you said it has a white back? Is that standard? I just assumed the outside colour would be the inside colour as well and that's what put me off considering a darker colour.
Glad you like it! It's just a 1930's semi so still got some original bits and pieces.
When they came to measure and we decided on the type of glass etc, they gave us a choice of the colour we wanted for the back of the door. As it's all engineered, this is up to you and they said most people go for white. It brightens up the hallway nicely and looks great from the inside too0 -
Silly question, I quite like composite, but why do they show a "Fake woodgrain" effect?. A painted real wood door is smooth.0

Interesting thread.
I'm planning to replace all my uPVC double glazed windows and doors in the next year or so.
These composite doors look quite secure. My main concern with my current uPVC is either someone snapping the lock cylinder or kicking through a uPVC panel.
Are the Euro cylinder locks still being fitted??!!
Can you get 5 lever mortice deadlock with the composite doors?
Do the composite doors also come with matching windows?
Security is my main requirement.0 -

The rockdoor guy did make reference to the solidor being made of wood which he said defeats the object, and that rockdoor was all synthetic/engineered.
Why could door stop not do the frame you require ?
solidor do have a timber core but most grp composite doors also have timber frameif you think peoples advice is helpfull please take the time to clicking the thank you button it gives great satisfaction0 -

PS, we have a dog that doesn't like postmen and barks anytime something comes through the door so we bolted a large postbox on the side of hte house out of view which is why there's no letterbox. The hardware is brushed. Lots of nice comments in the street about it
I'm not surprised; it's gorgeous! Kerb appeal indeed :-)0
