Door stop and yaledoor are the same doors just different marketing but exactly the same product. In terms of where they are in the market they are bottom end

Top end in terms of quality composite doors would be

    Rock door
    Veka/Bowater double rebated composite doors
    Solidor

However just as important as the product is the fitting make sure you get good installers

Finally ensure that they are using a quality lock not a cheap euro cylinder, it doesn't natter how thick the door is or how many hook bolts it's got it doesn't matter if it's a cheap lock

You want the door to be pas24 secure by design in terms of quality locks request Yale platinum locks or abs avocet

    Hope this helps

I am not an overwhelming fan of Doorstop, but they are cheap. I have one of their doors - laminated glass panels, patterned glass, knocker, spy hole...which cost £600 to supply and fit. At this price I rate the door as acceptable.

I remember looking at other doors, including those made by Phoenix, that were cheaper. I could have saved £100 had I bought one of these but I was wary of the quality.

We had the Solidor Tenby solid door in chartwell green with black accessories last year from a local company and are delighted with it. Not digital locks. Can't be faulted.

Please excuse horrible Iphone pic. It's quality in real life! White back, solid, secure, very happy. Just need to take off the outside light and replace with a half light. Hope this helps

PS, we have a dog that doesn't like postmen and barks anytime something comes through the door so we bolted a large postbox on the side of hte house out of view which is why there's no letterbox. The hardware is brushed. Lots of nice comments in the street about it

It is LOVELY!!! :T Looks really stunning. Fantastic choice.

It also looks really neat without the letterbox, what a good idea. Am now envious of your porch, stained glass and brickwork too, in addition to the door!

I was interested that you said it has a white back? Is that standard? I just assumed the outside colour would be the inside colour as well and that's what put me off considering a darker colour.

Well turns out the door stop door is out of the equation as they can't make up the frame I need. The door fitter is getting a quote for a solidor (which I'm expecting to be slightly cheaper than my initial quote via another fitter), and I still have the option of rockdoor via valuedoors. Is there much to choose between the solidor and rockdoor do you know? The rockdoor guy did make reference to the solidor being made of wood which he said defeats the object, and that rockdoor was all synthetic/engineered.
