No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries October 2014

No consumable toiletries in, but I got offered and sent a body brush and cellulite massager free to review from sellers on Am@zon. I'm currently number 148 in the top reviewer rankings and sellers are able to contact me directly so I do get offered free stuff but it's not often beauty related.
The only other thing that comes to mind is a pair of straighteners that were surprisingly good.
Really chuffed with the brush, others are cheaper, yes, but it's exactly right for body brushing.
I dug out my old Sanctuary body brush the other day and promptly scratched myself with it, remembering why I'd barely used it - it's far too harsh.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Went for my wedding hair and makeup trial today.....the make up artist suggested I buy the (Mac) lipstick she's using for touch ups on the day so guess I'll be having an INNo more unnecessary toiletries Feb 2014 INS: 24 UU: 13. Mar 2014. INS: lost count, naughty step for me! UU: 80

After weeks of nothing I suddenly seem to have a flurry of UU's.
Avon virtual lift instant results serum - WNBA. Sometimes it felt sting-ey on my face.
Boots Botanics quenching body lotion - WNBA. I expect a lot of my body lotion, didn't feel moisterising enough, also was not keen on the medicinal type scent (must be the ginseng?)
Dove soap bar 'go fresh - restore' (the blue one with fig extract). WBA. Dove soap is my HG. Like washing with cream, much less dry skin since I have started using it. I tried all the 'go fresh' versions I could find over the summer and liked the scents of them all but now we are moving into winter I will go back to my favourite Shea butter one.
BTW I don't usually list shampoo and conditioner as I don't seem to have a problem stock piling this. I vary between Tesco's or Aldi's own coconut version, or Garnier sleek and shine or Gliss picked up in poundshops. In winter I will often use Palmolive naturals dandruff shampoo to deal with a dry scalp. The best I found for dealing with dandruff without stripping my hair. I have tried expensive shampoo/conditioners, but luckily for my bank balance my hair seems happiest with the cheapest stuff! No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!0 -
Sounds lovely Kadison. Devon would be equally nice too, spent a few Christmases there and its lovely to walk on the beach before lunch:jDebt free and busy treating myself:)
No more toiletries/make up until I've used what I've got stashed since Jan 2011, graduated October 2012. Restocked Dec 13..damn those sales0 -

I saw the dentist for an orthodontic assessment the other week and he says my overbite is bad enough to get treatment on the NHS, so I am now waiting for a referral (who knows how long that will take!)
My step mum had braces as an adult and is so happy with the results, so I hope you are too!
Thanks for your comment pirateyqueen
It went surprisingly well today! From what i'd been told i expected to be in loads of pain, not be able to eat etc but it's not painful really just more of a dull ache and I had fish&chips for tea! haha still feels strange to eat i'll admit but nothing like I expected. Having the surgery couple of weeks back was 100 times worse.
I hope you get your referral soon...if it's on the NHS do you still pay some or is it free?
Back on topic!
Had a UU this morning in my shower:
Herbal essences seductively straight shampoo - WBA - liked this and actually did what it said, definitely makes my hair less frizzy and easier to straighten. Got lots of others to get through so i'm going to hold off buying another for the time being.0 -
Some more UU:
Dove deodorant: WBA since it was / is my absolute fave! Too bad I still have 29466894 deodorants to go through
Nail polisher remover: WBA since I can always use itweight loss journey: 3 KG / 8 KG
declutter challenge: 25 / 25 ✅ 66/100

Hi ladies! *waving vigorously from the naughty step*.
Have ordered the limited edition LE C&P plus this month's essentials as I was going to order them anyway! Got an email from LE giving me VIP status (no doubt the World and his Wife have also received it - I'm such a sucker!) to order the new Sweet Orange and Mint version ahead of general release. Love both those fragrances so am quite excited about this.
Am not aiming to buy anything else this month, honestly. x
Repainted my finger nails last night and am wearing OPI A Grape Fit. Is lovely colour but I'm sure I have another purple similar to this! Did not repaint my toe nails as I could not get the Shellac gel to come off with my normal nail polish remover! Any suggestions?Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

Another UU for me - baby shampoo! Not sure what to replace it with, I asked either in this thread or the one before so will need to go back and look and see what the recommendations were.

I'm not sure if you have to have shellac removed professionally......you could try soaking your nails in the polish remover? No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries 2023
