"Caring" reply from Barclays

OP I repeat it reads as your PC has been infected or hijacked .0
-
The OP thinks she's suffering because she has seen a picture of a hamster (definitely not a rat!). What about the many more people who are phobic about spiders? They will be posting here in droves over the next few weeks as they are forced to walk down countless supermarket aisles bedecked with images of arachnids for Halloween. Most likely they won't though, because they are adults.0

On the plus side, my sister is going to have a really good laugh when I mail her a link to this page. She's a training manager at Barclays

I agree that their reply was just ridiculous and they obviously had not read your message but I do think that a phobia of anything is really the phobic's problem and the rest of the work cannot bend to accommodate it much really. Actually struck me today that if I was phobic about going on ferries or across water on a bridge I could not have done part of my job and I wondered how tolerant my employer would have been of that."'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, this life

You can't really blame them when OP was accusing them of having a rat on their website when there was no rat.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Is not a rat, Mr Fawlty, it's a hamster...0

This really is one of the funniest threads I've ever read on MSE.:rotfl:
How can you not recognise the difference between a hamster and a rat?
No wonder Barclays couldn't understand your complaint.THERAPHOSA wrote: »is this ridiculous? Appalling? Or something else? You be the judge.
OK, I'm judging.
Your vent (whilst posted in the right place so kudos for that) is ridiculous.THERAPHOSA wrote: »A problem is a lack of judgement on a part of Barclays marketing team and questionable working ethics of their staff.
A problem is the inability to differentiate between a hamster and a rat.0 -
That looks nothing like a rat!!
Its a hamster like the hamsters on their mortgage advert!
I'm very scared of puppets to the extent that they make me sweat but did I complain to Wonga when they did those hideous old people puppets? No. Its just silly.0 -
It's amazing what some people will try to complain about.0

I think it would have been better for Barclays to reply along the lines of, ' A RAT, Madam! No, you are mistaken, it is most definitely a hamster' and perhaps they could have sent pics of both a rat and a hamster for comparison purposes. That would be good customer service i think."'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, this life
