I don't use Direct Debits as I tend to pay credit cards when and as suits me by FP or occasionally cash. This sometimes means paying earlier or 1 business day before the due date.

I'm not too upset to not have mable's sympathy :o

Plenty of people get into trouble with DDs too.

Hopefully the OP (and "them") won't be too upset at not getting your sympathy.

Why oh why oh why do some people never learn and set up a dd for the min amount. Have no sympathy for them at all.
Why would you assume that everyone should setup a direct debit.

And that has no relevance to the issue anyway.

I think Yorkshire Boy hit the nail on the head, it is a payment due by date that you get around 3 weeks notice of......

Having dragged myself from no credit to prime credit, the trick is to work your finances to pay when the statement is produced or as close to it as you can. Also keep a DD for the minimum set up.

The OP provides a fine example when you leave paying your bills at the last minute. If the poster had a dd in place then he/she would not have to concern their selves with what day/date the payment due date fell.

May be but if the dd goes wrong and it is not the account holders fault then at least they have some come back.

I too hope the OP is not too upset at not getting my sympathy. However if they are tough!

Not sure why MBNA have payment due dates sometimes on a weekend, none of my other credit cards have this.

It seems to only get taken on next working day regardless of due date.

Mine came out today (by DD)

    Good news !

Everything is being reinstated as it was.

    -£12 late payment charge refunded.
-Balance Transfer put back on 0% till mid 2015.
-Promotion 0% offer till Jan 2016 for further balance transfer reinstated.

I phoned last Saturday after I made payment as soon as I realised due date was Sun and not Mon.

The advisor told me what would happen, that my payment would be credited Mon. would be charged late payment fee, would instantly lose 0% rate & offer.

Initially the very professional advisor (at end thought I was talking to a robot) offered 2-3 offers reinstating at 1.9%, said I really wanted it reinstated as it was. He went to check with a manager, after 5 minutes came back, said they would do it.

He said it would take few days till Wed for these things to be done, should be done automatically, no need to phone. He said phone calls are all recorded if there was a problem.

I then phoned on Sunday to double check that they had agreed to all this and was exactly as I understood.

Phoned again today after event to confirm it has been done and they confirmed.

Hopefully you have now set up a direct debit to take the min payment.
