My MBNA payments made Mon-Fri in recent months have always been credited to my MBNA account the same day.

Yes, they get credited and dated the same day (or the next business day in case of weekends), but are visible on-line only after the next morning's update.

OP, phone them Monday morning. Your MBNA page won't show the payment (yet), but, I'm sure, the operator will be able to see it already.

This exact same thing happened to me, my fault.

I rang them first thing Monday and apologised, I appeased them by setting up a DD for the minimum payment in future. They were very pleasant and agreed not to make any charges or record a late payment anywhere. They were true to their word.

One thing of note is that the due date was Sunday. They will know that the payment hadn't arrived by close of play on Friday and that it couldn't have been credited to the account in time. When they choose to process it is immaterial.

Honestly, give them a quick bell first thing tomorrow. For a first (minor) offence they are normally very forgiving. Leaving it to chance is not an option IMHO.
It doesn't makes sense to have payment due date on weekend, if they are not processing payments on weekend.

It doesn't make sense to leave dealing with it until now either.

Not really, they have got my money & the payment.

The payment is due today (sun), they have my payment from yesterday (sat), but seems they won't process till tomorrow (mon).

There is no need to have that discrepancy.

You stated that you made the payment on a Saturday.

That payment is not guaranteed to get to the receiving company, let alone receiving card account until close of business Monday.

It doesn't make any sense to have left it until Saturday.

My bank HSBC says they will have the money.
Faster payments operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week,
Payment has gone to MBNA Europe Bank, so it's gone to a bank

It doesn't makes sense to have payment due date on weekend, if they are not processing payments on weekend.

My situation just exposes the discrepancy.

But it was never guaranteed to.

I get your point. Argue it with MBNA.

In the meantime, don't assume all Faster Payment transactions arrive the same day. They don't. It's an unnecessary risk to take. Madness to leave it so late.

In the context of increased banking regulation, consumer rights, improved technology, notions of "treating customers fairly" etc etc, I agree with you.

People can be quick to say that you should have seen it coming and paid earlier (or "should have signed a DD" is a particularly popular mantra trotted out). But equally when choosing a "due by" date, MBNA could also see a weekend coming. Banks are bigger than people. Rightly or wrongly, banks are being pressured to act in a more consumer-friendly manner in situations such as this.

Not going to be collected in next 24 hours will it?
Phoning them to explain is the best option.

Why oh why oh why do some people never learn and set up a dd for the min amount. Have no sympathy for them at all.

Plenty of people get into trouble with DDs too.

Hopefully the OP (and "them") won't be too upset at not getting your sympathy.
