I have 2 senior boys who get wet and dry food. 1 prefers dry, the other wet but both will eat either. They get tinned fish about once a week and bits of my chicken or cheese as treats. They also like mushy peas and baked bean juice. They suck the sauce off and leave clean beans:D Both are very well and fit for their age.

My money saving tip with dry food is to buy up the offers, like the perfect fit, when they come up but do not stick to one brand. I mix a blend of about 3 or 4 different kibbles in a tupperware box and feed from there. This way they dont develop a dependancy on one type of food. I have seen this with a previous cat where if I couldn't get the one he was used to he would get colitis. That was overcome though and his system was re-educated to cope with much more variety.

Cats are all different, my only girl used to like chillis:eek:

do not feed your cat a dry food only diet, most cats do not drink enough water, so get most of their required water intake from food.
feeding only dry food can lead to kidney damage.

I have a 17 week old Tonkinese who is refusing to eat dry biscuits - he will only eat meat. I have a 6 yr old Siamese who eats what ever he is given - be it wet or dry and he always has done.

I would ideally like to predominately feed dry food and just give 1 pouch a day as a treat but Toby ( my little Tonk) has other ideas?

    Anyone have any advice.

He is a little small for his age as he didn't want to wean from his mummy so took a bit longer to get onto meat but is making up for it now - I would just like to get him to try some biscuits too.

    Thanks

You have an older cat so you should know that they do exactly what THEY want.

If little 'un doesn't want to eat biscuits, there ain't nothing you can do to make him :j :j :j

we changed ours cats from meat to dry biscuits - we had to introduce it slowly over a few days/couple of weeks so gradually reduce the wet food and increase the biscuits - they weren't kittens though probably about 1 year old - hope this helps

There are always biscuits out for him next to his meat so he could try them if he wanted to he just doesn't bother with them.

Would it help to maybe mix a few in with his meat?

yes you could try that - our vet said that if we reduced the meat they would eventually be hungry enough to eat the biscuits but it may be a slow process and just to stick with it - i would try mixing and if not just give slightly less meat each day and leave some biscuits in another dish too - watch that your other cat doesn't eat them - i think there are kitten biscuits not sure if they would be any better or whether there is any difference - if in doubt check with your vet i would say - cats are fickle but the dry diet i think is better for them
