Makes me giggle! Even if you do that, I presume it depends upon the recipient highlighting the number in the message and selecting "send text" from the phone's menu. I bet they had a little chat about that in the Bombay or Dehli call centre and played around with their mobile phones, before they worked out a reply! Probably they haven't been told the correct answer themselves. That lack of training, I suppose, is why the texts only cost 1p.

There is no call centre, in India or anywhere else.

That's one of the reasons why these services are cheap.

I only have my landline registered. Just sent a couple of text messages and both were succesfull.

Not quite sure why, and I have e-mailed them my query, but at certain times, the texts can't be sent...anyone else experience this?

Since this thread was last used, texts to UK mobiles via 18185's website increased to 3½p each - and were still that price on 20-5-2009.

The good news is, today, the price has dropped to 3p per text.
