This is the reply from their (non English) customer services when I asked about it:

    "Dear customer,
You can only get a reply on your mobile, when you mention your number in the message to be send.
    Kind regards,
    Customer service"

    Seems stupid really....

Strange. I get the option of 2 of the 4 landline numbers I have registered and the 0808 number too.

However, bearing in mind the instructions are that you should log into your account using your registered mobile number, might that be the key?
As a customer of 18185 you can send very cheap text messages. Log in with your (mobile) number and your 18185 customer number and you can send text messages right away via the internet. The sent messages will be charged on your regular invoice automatically.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
  • Last night I sent a text message which did not arrive.
    Was charged 1p.
    Only have home phone registered.
Maybe I should register mobile number.

Any tips so I do not need to register mobile.

On 18185 it's 0808 170 18 18 the number you call to find your account details from a registered number.

you only have the option of your mobile in the drop down menu if you've used your mobile with the service in the past month.
