What your Upvc windows and doors actually cost

Please note this service is purely to provide you with a comparison quote of what your windows and doors actually cost to supply. Hopefully this will prevent you from being ripped of by dodgy salesman and crazy brand name prices. I will not supply our company name or detailed quotations to insure I comply with forum rules however rest assured my company currently manufactures an average of 75 conservatory roofs and supply over 200 frames every week so please feel sure you can trust the prices I give you.

If you've got a quotation in or are considering obtaining one please feel free to leave the sizes here and i'll tell you what this costs to supply and install which should give you some idea as to whether you are getting a good deal or not.

    Hi there,

Have been quoted (£1300 and best price) for Rockdoor Newark, 2550x1000mm to include door, fitting etc, and glass above door, frame etc.

I appreciate it's a lot of money but hear extremely positive things re Rockdoor.... any thoughts?
  • Hi Suicidevw, I don't have much experience with Rockdoor however Rockfit offer that door for under £1000 supplied and fitted which is ALWAYS negotiable. I believe the Rockdoor is comparable to palladio doors and solidor which if i'm correct you should be looking at £900 - £1000 max depending on design of glass etc. I would suggest you approach Rockfit with your design and sizes (they have an online quotation tool) get their best price then pass it to your original supplier and chances are they'll beat it by around 5%

    Hi,

I just specced it up on Rockfit with the same as mine and it came to approx £1280. Therefore I feel happy paying the local recommended by Rockdoor fitters a little more. Thanks :)
  • Hi RealWindowPrices,

Do you have any experience with Heritage Rose uPVC?
I've got a guy coming round next week to quote for four Victorian sashes, each around 870mm x 1630mm - it'd be good to have some idea what to expect.

    Thanks,
    -purple-
  • Hi Purple. Generally speaking you should be looking at between £400 - £450 per window supplied and fitted although Heritage Rose have a lot of claims stating it has been accepted for some conservation areas etc etc but I cant see any reason why that would put the price above £450 each. These prices are for white upvc if you are having woodgrain please let me know and i'll update for you
  • Fantastic, thanks for your response. I'm looking at the non-woodgrain at the moment. I'll feed back what my quote is for this work - it may be of interest to others! :)

This morning we went to to the showroom of our local trade window supplier to get a quote for the UPVC windows they make on site but while we were discussing what we want for our Edwardian house they recommended we look at Restoration 9 wood effect windows. And we fell in love..... They are quoting for both but will we get a shock?

We have a large lounge window made up of four 150 cm deep x 50 cm wide windows, a bay in the bedroom with two 150 deep x 55 wide and two 150 deep x 65 wide and a box room circa 150 deep x 80 wide.

    We're in London.

    Thanks

I think its impossible to give an accurate price without knowing exactly what's involved with each job, materials, labour etc?? Prices will also vary dependent on where in the Uk people are based! Surely this will work on a supply only basis. Good to give people some kind of idea of what they should be forking out though!
  • ..also the vent configuration and height above floor-whether it needs toughened safety glass or not makes quite a difference.
  • Hi DHFrames, it's not that difficult to work out what the labour should cost obviously the price of windows are what they are but an average size window shouldn't cost more than £80 to fit including materials. There are obviously exceptions but the prices I supply should be fairly accurate. With regards to vents they are also included with the estimate and toughened glass does not cost as much as this industry would have you believe you're only talking £9 - £10 a square meter :)
