Ooooo, Look Bri!
The last 5 posts have agreed with our perspective of the work, schedule and costs.....
I wonder if I'm still taking the !!!!
HTH
Russ
At a cost of half what was originally quoted?
That's more in line with me than you chaps Russ.
.
The Op seems to be going with this so I guess she has saved money.
The 1 thing this forum should do is to offer the options and views of as all, the OP then decides, we don't make minds up.
And as you know I'm more than happy holding up my side of the argument,:DI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
I'm loving all the nicknames. 'Russ' and 'Bri'! Like real mates joshing.0

One of the angriest threads I ever read in here was about Carpetright so I hope you haven't started a new war!
8k sounds a bit on the high side but obviously I don't know exactly what horrors your fitters had to deal with - most people here including myself paid about 5k for a new bathroom of a similar size to yours.
What floor are you having? I hope it's waterproof so you can clean it properly - if tiles put in some underfloor heating, you won't regret it.0 -
Yes don"t get me started on carpetright, .....fitters came, rude to plumbers trying to get done quick " we"ve another two jobs to go too" then I noticed indent on flooring took it away, made offical complaint, other fitters not allowed back...by coincidence I had a carpet assessor in the same day looking at my 2 yr old carpetright carpet with a line running in the pile.....wait and see what happens. Have to say re bathroom Suppliers were very good also burlington bathrooms very good too got free radiator valves, as they were not shown in the catalog separately then they gave them for free ...well cuffed. Apart from loads of plaster dust no shower or bath for a week I survived!0

A complete refit (old plasterboard removed, floorboards up) of our small bathroom (1.5m x 3m) took just over a month. Labour charge was £2,300 (West Yorkshire), plus £800 for bits and bobs (consumables, piping, plasterboard etc etc), plus the actual cost of the loo, basin, shower, tiles, radiator etc, which we sourced ourselves. I'd budgeted £4,500, and we came in pretty close.
We were extremely happy with it all, and he'll be coming back in February to do our main bathroom (3.7m x 2.2m).No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0 -
Had my very small bathroom done a couple of years back and they basically stripped it right back to the plaster and started again and it certainly took two weeks to get it right back to the finished state (I did have all the fittings moved round, new ceiling, new walls, new tiles, new floor and new plumbing mind you.)
If you choose a firm like bathstore they usually have fitters' cards pinned up on a board in their shop. Or have you tried checkatrade?
To be honest I have found a day rate is a better bet with an honest trader as then they will take the time to do anything overlooked. So provided you can allow a max of say 2 weeks and source all the kit yourself, you know where you stand. If it comes to less than that, they can snag out or add small extra tasks you might not have thought of at first. Or make adjustments where needed.0
