How much if you strip back and go for waterproof decorative wall boards rather than tiles and paint.
I wonder how much the self contained single moulded spec bathrooms on ships cost for a small space plug and play could be solution.0 -

While the large laminate boards can be fitted over most substrates, they still need to be rigid. I personally wouldn't have them in my own bathroom and as such try to avoid fitting them into joe publics. Only time we would use is for student/rented accommodation
Bathrooms pods are available but you will easily pay 4-7k for a all in one combined unit fitted out. OK for new builds but these must be fitted prior to walls/roof being erectedHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0 -
Well you won't get that in my area!
Andyhop says most of the installs take 2 weeks for two men - that's 20 man days.... I'm of the same opinion.
If you think we're both taking the !!!! (as you say) then that's just fine and dandy with us, but of no help to the OP or the purpose of this thread.

It is actually, and is exactly the view he was expessing. I happen to agree, and I think a balanced view is needed as to what is fair, I just guess you guys have longer tea breaks than meI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
I had a builder I know and trust to fit a bathroom for me. There was indeed a fair bit of work involved that is not obvious at the start to someone inexperienced. For example the wall I wanted to fit the shower onto had to be strengthened, new cabling was needed to cope with a more modern shower, putting plaster board on a wall that previously had cork tiles. Mine took nearly 3 weeks and cost me £4500 which seems a lot, but five years on it still looks good. The only thing I have needed to replace was the shower as it began to overheat this summer. The builder did everything including flooring and all I needed to do was a small bit of painting.0

Small bathroom in a terrace should cost about £4-5k using "average" materials. I tiled everywhere including the floor - they needed to lower it so there wasn't a step to the hallway. That also included undertile heating.
Took 2-3 guys a week, but the house was empty which probably sped things up.
Make sure you include getting rid of the waste in any quote - in fact my old cast iron bath was probably worth something so I expect they sold it - a perk for them that I accepted. Carrying it downstairs was worth it.0 -
It all depends on what you want doing and the cost of the materials too. If you gave a cheap bathroom suite it will bring the price down, but labour costs will be much the same. It's hard to give a quote without seeing the spec, but as a rule of thumb, the average cheapish bathroom refit can vary anything between around £5,000 and £10,000. B&Q charge £9k, and that's bog standard materials.0

Recent small bathroom and separate WC in Cheshire. Moved everything round apart from the window and door. £4k on all labor and the same on fittings and tiles.
I procured what I wanted online to get the lowest price and these guys have no customer service after they take your money. I had missing and wrong parts supplied that took weeks to sort out. Build a month into your time scale if you take this route.
My tradesmen did not charge VAT.0 -
I have just been quoted £3k for the fitting/decoration (excludes the cost of the suite, taps, tiles etc.), 9-10 days for one guy plus sparky.
A friend of mine is a builder and he said the average bathroom costs £6-7k in total and I reckon mine is going to come out between about £5.5k and £6k.....at least I hope it is, I seem to choose al the more expensive items! What goes around comes around.....I hope!0 -
Ooooo, Look Bri!
The last 5 posts have agreed with our perspective of the work, schedule and costs.....
I wonder if I'm still taking the !!!!

Hi all brilliant responses from everyone just had new quote £4000ish....including taking out soil pipe and replacing this is for labour only still got to buy all the tiles, flooring and bathroom suite, but feel more confident with this person know it is probably more than most people would but happy with this is probably midway better than 14k.....and will be done in 7 days ... Hopefully. I"m a she not a he by the way, wonder if that has anything to do with iffy quotes?0
