Another SFD in the bag for me too - DS2 woke up with sore throat and temperature so worked from home and now waiting for DH to come home early so I can go into office and catch up with the other stuff I should have been doing today.
Just got chicken out for HM chicken and bacon pie tomorrow, then realised that I used up the last of the bacon this afternoon in the bolognaise. Will need to get some more tomorrow, but at least can get the brown rice that wasn't available in L!dl yesterday.
Hopefully forum pages back to normal soon - miss reading the lovely long posts.....

applemuncher I seem to have picked up a puncture. Lost the plot today, moodwise feeling very down in the dumps and just can't shake it off, nor is there an explanation other than a mild feeling of panic about sorting Christmas before the day. I know my mum has another op to be scheduled between the end of the month and Christmas, exactly the same as last time, so likely a huge one and she will be out of action for a while, which means that the presents actually HAVE to be ready, bought, delivered here and wrapped in 9 DAYS TIME. No pressure like... after working out today I have half a dozen left to even think about let alone buy :shocked:
So who can give me a 'croggy' please? Pick me up, whisk me away on your handlebars for a day

'nee naah nee naah' *sirens blazing* Apple is on the way to pop you in the kiddie bike seat. Oh no! I've sold it - will put you in the kiddie trailer with cushions, fleecy blankets, hot water bottle and a hot choc. Dairy-free, of course!
Sorry you are having a grotty day. Write yourself a list of who you need to give a present to, and what you've got so far. Bet you've done lots. Then sit back and ponder the awkward ones that are still left!

Hugs for everyone that needs them. I too am having a bit of a weird day. Must have mis-timed the painkillers/ getting to sleep window - gave up at 4am as was more comfortable sitting up, eventually drifted off for a few hours.
Thought DS1 wasn't going to come but he had been held up in traffic. He has finished all the trim in the bathroom and started on the 'lawn' (seriously hard work, digging, raking, levelling off). Gave up in the end but (very reluctantly) he is coming back on Thursday (working Saturday so gets Thursday in lieu) to complete it (we are a bit late really- it says up to early October).
I have cleared a lot of junk (mostly only small bits), started another cs pile and cleaned most of the kitchen to fly-lady standard and Ds3 has done some bits I requested (scrubbing a corner of the kitchen floor that was driving me mad) in between showing off the 2 new outfits he has for the Leicester convention in a couple of weeks. Unfortunately a button came off one of the epaulettes and he ripped the trousers bending down to pick it up, so they are on my mending pile.
Ds1 went home and I sank gratefully into a bath (used a face mask I had found during the clutter clearing). Utter bliss. Hobbled to the bed with a slightly strange tea (raw carrots, dips and fruit yoghurt with porridge - couldn't stand up to cook anything) then just after six the phone started ringing - DS1 had got all the way home (2 buses) to discover that he had left his keys on my landing windowsill. So pulled on an extra layer of clothes and 16 mile round trip with DS1 doing similar from his end, to hand over the keys. He gave me bus fare so no budget implications (have also moved £16.35 to next month's food budget). Dropped off some batteries from DS3's room to recycling on the way home.
Would like to go out again to make further use of the bus ticket but being sensible and staying where I am (struggled to get on and off buses a couple of times). Just hoping for a proper sleep and maybe an admin day tomorrow. I have sorted stuff into 7 separate 'to do' lists, need to fill in and start crossing off.My mission in life is not only to survive,but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
Hello...
Have been a bit AWOL and I apologise. The weekend was really busy and then I was working today so didn't have a chance to work out my budgets.
So.... here we go:
* SFD = 8/16. halfway there!!
* Food = £52/£120 spent so far (including the £20 in AT).
* Petrol = £40/£40 which should cover me for most of the month.
* Holiday = £379.95/£536.70 (2 out of 3 trips done).
So... it's not looking too bad so far.
:undecided
Currently thinking about my goals (as per the BIKE part of the challenge). My timescales are different to those suggested.
* 6 months - debt free (hopefully).
* 4 years - married after having the most amazing wedding day and honeymoon with everything paid for in advance with savings.
* Every year from 2018 - I want us to have a weekend away to celebrate our anniversary. This could be something as simple as going away in the bongo (campervan) to a weekend away in Europe.
* Every 2 years from 2018 - I want to have a big holiday. This would be taking the bongo (campervan) to Europe for 2 weeks.
* Every 5 years from 2020 - A massive holiday lasting 3 weeks to major places like China, Hong Kong, America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, etc.
Obviously, in the years that match up (like 2020, 2030, etc) we wouldn't have two big holidays, just the one.
Basically I just want to explore as much as possible but not go into debt doing it.

Not a good day (or weekend) spend-wise. Have already gone over my month budget by 48p. It's my first month doing a challenge and I guess I was over-optimistic
Well, the rest of this week might be NSD's at least!

Horrible day yesterday, but managed a NSD and a walk at lunchtime - about the only thing I did achieve! Went to guides and did cheer up quite a lot, they're a wonderful group. Hoping for better things from today but it's still dark/ cold/ wet and I have uni from 6-9pm, so that may be overly optimistic. On the bright side, I get paid tomorrow!

Big hugs to Lilt, NannyGladys and Mothernerd- sounds like you all need them! And Mothernerd, bus ride to meet DS with keys is above and beyond- my first reaction was "I'd have made him come all the way back" but then realised I'd have done the same as you! Hope you get a chance to rest more today.
Lilt, agree with AM about list, you could always post bios for the tricky ones asking for suggestions..... Lol! Sure you'll feel better when you actually see your mum in person, it's so hard when you're so far away.
Samiszel, I've only been doing this challenge for a couple of months, and while I haven't stayed within budget much, I've definitely spent less as a result so it's still really helpful. I initially thought my food budget was too low, but am now beginning to realise that my attitude to food spends was the bit that needed tweaking - may not be the same for you, but I find it harder to reign in food spends than anything else as it's "essential". Half of what I buy isn't, probably - I am the queen of food stockpiling, and I break out in a cold sweat if we have less than 4 toilet rolls in the house!
Counted my chickens too soon with yesterday's SFD - colleague had picked up jar of favourite coffee half price so had to pay her, so stopped off at Mr T on the way home last night to get bacon and brown rice. Shopping at 11pm so I can claim SFD today instead, not sure if I'm being MSE or just a bit obsessive.....#21 Save £12k in 2025 £16977.35/£20000
