Afternoon all ((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))) if you need them.
I have not read the posts yet, have been out this morning sewing at my friends and having a chat.
It started to rain as I was driving over and is still chucking it down, roads are flooding and its horrid..............
Not much to report really, quiche for supper with salad, for OH me, I don't know, I had soup, pizza and apple tart for lunch still feeling pretty full.
Signing off for now......................September grocery budget........trying for £80, not sure if I will make it though!!!!! I certainly did not last month, lost track of the final bill. Will do better this month honest.
Tesco £57.13
Petrol £10.000 -
Here in the north we appear to be in the dry, though it is very overcast and windy - good for getting the two loads of wshing dry, but keeping a wary eye open just in case it starts to tip it down.
A good friend gave me some lily of the valley, so just putting them in. They were my mum's favourite flowers so looking forward to having them around.
I am planning a tea party in the garden in a few weeks to raise some money for a charity that I am involved in. The new Kenwood should get a thrashing in making all the cakes to sell!! I've been looking at the varoius Kenwood CHef threads - some amazing stuff in there. I think the longest part of the preparation is going to be lining the cake tins!!! Am also bidding in Ebay for a mincer - amazing what keeps us excited eh?:rotfl:
Have a lovely weekend everyone - and keep dry....

Hi,
Rain, rain go away...cos I'm fed up with you!
It has rained here almost all day. The girls broke up early and are stuck inside already, so I'm hoping the rest of the holidays are sunnier.
One of my friends flew to Florida yesterday and I keep wishing I was back there, eating pancakes at IHOP, shopping in Walmart, meeting Mickey and complaining about the heat! Never mind, we will return there soonish!
So far today I've done 2 loads of washing (hung inside), made a couple of sausage and bean pies and 24 lemon curd tarts and hoovered the house (again).
DH is celebrating the end of term and won't be in until later (with a silly grin on his face). :rotfl:
Tomorrow I'm supposed to be going to a Garden Party but I think we'll end up sitting inside moaning about the weather.
Have a good day.0 -
Afternoon guys!!
Wow what a emotional day, ds1 leaving assembly had me in tears from start to finish, the assembly was called memories and they showed lots of pictures of the kids from the early years in school with the soundtrack `what have you done today to make you feel proud`. The whole school was sobbing, then the school drama group sang the spice girls song `good-bye` then 2 children sang `Hero`, it was the most wonderful leaving assembly, every single child was heartbroken that they were leaving watching 16 11yrs old crying is a very emotinal thing!
But they all came out smiling after a leaving disco with their shirts covered in well wishes.
I have to go through this all again for the next 2 years with ds2 and ds3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have a wonderful evening tonight im going to chill out with a bottle of wine given to me by ds1 best friends mum on the promise we wont lose touch with each other!

It's not raining here............we've got sun, and heat, and a nice breeze
For now anyway!!
Nothing OS to report, had major hassle with my ex over the last few days, DD's don't want to see him and he thinks I'm forcing them as he thinks that children of 9 and 11 don't have their own minds to make up. He turned up at school and has phoned the school asking to speak to them - it's made DD1's last few days at school a real worry....she even asked me to go and get her tonight incase he turned up. Men grrrrrrrrrrrrrr:mad:
Looking forward to a large glass of red and a good dollop of crumble and custard (good comfort food!)
Hope you all have a great weekend."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Afternoon all,
Still lovely 'soft' weather here...in other words rain...only place to do any gardening is greenhouse and what do you want to sow in there at this time of year. Lawns need cutting badly (OH's job since he got his beloved ride-on mower) but nothing to be done. New area in which we planted fruit trees and bushes needs to be strimmed badly...may take a scissors to it soon as it is really annoying me!
Ham and home grown cabbage with mash for dinner...we had lovely breakfast in brother's at 11 ( all right brunch then!) before he headed off to Sardinia for 10 days...I also came away with rashers, 3 types of cheese, apples milk and bread which won't survive until his return. Must water all his houseplants as they normally have more attention than children.
DGSs are hyper...no way of getting them out for a run around as everywhere is sodden...and we live on a relative height, they have been running and tumbling all over the house, nowhere is safe...they only call me when there is yet more food needed...glad its Friday though as I'm tired.
Planning on decluttering spare upstairs bedroom as DD2 and DGD1 are coming on Wednesday...hope that I can persuade OH to paint the ceiling ( walls too but that might be looking for a miracle), it hasn't been done in ages, even though it is not often used it looks wrecked. Cot could be taken down too as DGD1 now sleeps in a bed. They will be around for three weeks although DD2 is going to a wedding in Sligo and her friends seem to be scattered around the country so may not see a lot of them.
Hester...I hope that you are really proud of your DD...I was in tears never mind you! You did an excellent job there, take a bow!
Nothing else happening here, hugs to all in need or want

Kids all in front of telly watching a movie and eating sloppy joes in the dark  don't worry I've put a tablecloth on the floor for them to sit on.
OH is stuck on the M5 in the rain. It hasn't stopped all day. Fetching Ds1 from school at lunchtime involved negotiating some floods in the car. Fetching ds2 and dd at 3 involved wading through several inches of water. Playground was a whirlpool
I'm now worried that the weather will affect my delivery of HP7 tomorrow from Amazon -I haven't had a despatch message from them yet -anyone else expecting it from Amazon ?
Kids are telling me the film (Night at the Museum) and food are really good. Me and Oh will be able to eat our supper in peace and watch the film when they've all gone to bed -with a bottle of Shiraz rather than popcorn;)0 -
evening all just a quick one to say here's a link to a piccie of my dd ready to go to her prom

Hello everyone:hello: I've tried to stay off the site a little bit the last couple of days, because it's the biggest thief of time going:rotfl: In consequence I now have a tidy, clean, sparkling home!! Don't worry, that won't last long:rolleyes:
cabbageboy, I'm here!! I might not post every day but I do try to read the thread, 'cos I'm a very [strike]nosy[/strike] interested person, who likes to know what everyone's up to:D
shez, I was out in that rain:eek: With some of the roads, my car could have floated over to you! There were veritable lakes, some over a foot deep. It was actually quite scary, the risk of aquaplaning ever-present. Then it stopped, the sun came out and within half an hour you'd never have known it had even rained:rotfl: Crazy weather!
Went to an art exhibition today. The artist was a friend who died 5 years ago. His wife got it together, and it was fantastic. Knew he was talented, but it was an eye-opener to see so much of his work.
mrs mix as others have said you'll find an automatic easy peasy:D But I do understand your fear, I was the same:o I always had a manual, but eventually DH got an automatic. I never drove the first one, was much too scared. When he replaced his, he got another automatic. Just after this my car needed replacing but we decided we couldn't afford to replace it and/or run two cars. I had to bite the bullet and drive his. After the initial fear, I now love it and insist that whenever we hire a car on holiday it must be an automatic:rotfl:
Hardup Hester, what a lovely daughter you have! And how much she must love you to do such a thoughtful thing. I'm sure I'd have cried too. Now you must keep your promise and just do fun things and rest for the six weeks:D
Well time is marching on, and I expect DH will want to indulge his habit of eating dinner:rolleyes:Suppose I should go and make some. Still it's a nice easy one of fresh ravioli in a tomato based sauce, roasted mediterranean veggies, and salad. If he's really good I could do some crusty garlic bread, and totally exhaust myself;)
Hope you have good evenings,
CMxx
mrs mix, she looks great! A real little heartbreaker! You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -
