From digging around it seems my personal account has been enrolled in Ebay's new managed returns program.

It looks like I'm not alone, lots of stories like mine where buyers have either changed their mind or don't require the item - skipping the dispute route or communication and requesting a return. Certain return reasons force the seller to pay for return postage, anything that could vaguely be put in the SNAD category basically - buyers can pick and choose whatever reason they like in order to get a return label at the sellers expense, even if its a change of mind. I'm completely perplexed as to why I've been enrolled into this, the account is private and I've had nothing from them to tell me I'm in.

This has to be one of the more stupid improvements they've made so far. I had no messages in eBay to say a return had been opened, no notifications and no emails - just a small message under the item in my sold section.

I accepted the return, the buyer has nearly three weeks to make their mind up whether they'll be returning it or not. Quite odd though, it says they have until the 17th October to post and I should only refund once I receive the item back. When I view the return details in the new returns section in my Ebay it says the refund is due by the 5th October? confusing or what!
  • Just thought I would update this, the buyer closed the return request without returning or me refunding.

Still had no notifications from eBay, just a little message under the item in the sold section saying it's closed - if I click on it, it says the return was completed (which it wasn't) I found the buyer actually sold a number of the cars on a week ago so clearly they were just trying their luck for some money back. Its left me with a defect and the buyer is yet to leave feedback.
