Ebay Dispute/Return Query

Just after a little bit of advice regarding a imminent possibly problematic return.
The first time I've used eBay in ages, my first sale and I have an issue. Sold a Job Lot of Corgi toys, they went for silly money (surprisingly) and weeks later the buyer gets in touch and say's they're not happy and would like a partial refund, they want a 40% refund for slight damage to a couple of cars, the damage is minor and quite clearly visible in the pictures on my listing but there you go. the listing was for parts only - the cars were in poor condition and individually photographed.
I declined their request for a huge partial refund, from the start I offered a full refund on return which they refused, insisting on a partial. When they knew they were getting nowhere they agreed to a return, they insist on opening a case.
Obviously I'll accept a return but I have my doubts about the buyer, I have a feeling the job lot is going to come back missing a few cars. My question is, if I accept a return through a dispute will I have any comeback or be able to appeal if the lot is returned incomplete?

These forced returns weeks after the event are why so few people use ebay."Love you Dave Brooker! x"

All you can do is challenge the claim or accept the refund. If you accept and he returns with items missing, you can appeal the refund.0 -
Do you have any record of the weight from the parcel you originally sent? Obviously if they one returned to you varies quite dramatically (allowing for different packaging) then it will help your case.0

I do have the package details including weight somewhere so there's always that.
I've not had anything from the buyer for well over a day now, usually they've been pretty instantaneous with message replies and no case has been opened (yet) I get the impression they were trying to politely scare me into giving the partial and when they've realised I wouldn't give in they've spat the dummy out.
The buyer has well over 2000 feedback and sells these toys as well as buys them so I suspect they've sold some of it on and cant return the lot (they've had it over three weeks)
Just as long as I have some avenue of appeal if they do return the lot incomplete and I've voluntarily refunded within a dispute/case.0 -

have you given the refund without recieving the goods :eek:0 -
You can report the buyer either from the drop down menu next to the order, your seller dashboard or when you go to leave feedback one option is to report.
From what you've said it's likely they ask others for refunds, the more people who report abusive buyers the more chance eBay will do something. In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -

I've not read it that way at all!0 -
No, I've not refunded yet, the buyer has yet to open a case or request a return and obviously I'll want the lot back before I refund.
The buyer seems to know what they're doing, they told me as much i.e. When they've had issues before "sellers are usually accommodating with regards to partial refunds" and they'd rather not go the bother and cost of return etc.0 -
Sounds to me like they have overestimated the value of the lot and can't sell on some for as much as they thought.
I'll be surprised if the buyer has them all to return.0 -
