  • Hi Guys,

I bought my last pack of the evil sticks today. £7.57! I wish I hadn't.

I hate the smell of cigarettes in my hair and clothes. My chest feels tight and my mouth tastes horrible.

I'm planning away on how I'm going to keep myself busy. Plenty on the sky planner and plenty of housework to do. I work part time so hoping first day will be ok but off all day Thursday which might be tricky. All I can do is plan plan and plan.

I'm going cold turkey - I've tried patches a few times but after a few days of finishing the course I start smoking again within a few days. So I think cold turkey is the way forward for me. The nicotine leaves your body after 3 days. Whereas patches are still feeding your body with nicotine.

I want to wish everyone the best of luck in the STOPTOBER challenge. I hope we can all support each other on this journey xx

  • My goal is to be able to go to the shops with the money I've saved and buy whatever yarn (wool) I want to without having to look at how much it costs, I'm hoping that my knitting and crochet skills will be able to get me through this but I've also added a lot more fruit and veg to my shopping list for tomorrow just in case.....I have got an ecig but as someone's just pointed out, that's still feeding the nicotine addiction so maybe it might just be better to do the cold turkey option with the ecig as a back up if I get really, really tetchy....I doubt if my kids will understand nicotine withdrawal!

nicotine delivered by e-cig is less addictive than tobacco, as it hasn't had all the additives that fags have got that make it more potent. Also, nic itself is only as harmful as caffiene. So don't stress about vaping, it really does work to get off the fags....

question - do you drink any alcohol? That's way more harmful to you than nicotine, just to put it into perspective...

Have you tried searching amazon for "E Liquid 0% Nicotine"

but don't go jumping in straight to 0mg nic, step it down to 0 if you want to get off the nic as well, that way your body gets used to less and less bit by bit, so you don't go into instant mega-withdrawal, it'll give you a better chance ;)

  • Well just opened my last packet of the horrors too. All set to go with batteries on the e cig charged and loads of spare refills.

Working away tonight so tomorrow morning I will wake up in a hotel and not run downstairs as fast as I can get dressed to get my first fix.

Slightly dreading it but looking forward to all the benefits quite apart from the mahoosive pay rise this gives.

Good luck everyone and lets keep talking
  • I have a fab surprise for you all this morning! We've managed to get one of the Stoptober ambassadors, Lee Nelson to do a Twitter Q&A with us tomorrow, for the launch of Stoptober!
    leestop.jpg

We will be tweeting him your questions tomorrow (October 1st) starting at 11am, using the hashtag #AskLeeNelson. Our account is MSE_Forum. If you want to join in you can tweet us your questions or reply to this post. Include your Twitter username so we can @ you and give you a follow :)

The Q&A will be focused on Stoptober and of course, money saving! So get thinking of something you'd like to ask him and let us know by tomorrow morning.

This is also your last day to sign up for Stoptober! It's as easy as replying to this thread - so you've got no excuse! (And yes, I will be here all month with plenty of support to keep you on track!)
