Haven't had a cigarette in almost two years now.

Alas, I did just move to e-cigarettes....

Nothing wrong with that at all - I've been vaping 2 years, am way healthier and saved a packet. And for most people, if you use the right kit (not cig-a-likes) they're more effective than pharmacy NRT :D

anyone need a hand, pm me or get over to AAE-C forum for friendly helpful advice :)

...and nicotine itself is no more harmful to humans than caffiene, and can help short-term cognitive functions and stave off early-onset Alzheimer's

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D

  • I used the Silk Quit meter which was on my computer, it is essentially a calculator and my stats are approximately: money saved in excess of £6,000, cigarettes not smoked approximately 18000. It is quite an old programme so I'm not sure it will work on up to date computers.

    Good luck to everybody.

The web site says it has been updated to work with windows up to windows 7.

I run Linux and it installed with wine easily. Not sure when it was updates as it has a big button that says

"Keep an eye on our web site for new releases in 2002!"

Also, I'm not sure what "Smober Time" is :D

Having said that, it works and does exactly what it says on the tin. So, if you want that info, then I would recommend it.
  • Right I have a stock of e cigs in so its on to clearing out ash trays and the thousands of lighters!!

    Good luck everybody :)

I used to get through around 100g of tobacco per week, but I've been tobacco free for two months now thanks to vaping:beer:
IMO it's much more effective than over the counter or prescription smoking cessation products.

    (BTW I'm a member of AAE-C ).
  • Less than a week to go now! I hope you're all following Baileysonice's footsteps and starting to get rid of those old lighters, you don't want anything there to tempt you!

I've just found this comedy sketch on Stoptober's Twitter, which for a promotional video, is actually not bad. Enjoy!

Oh, and Paddy McGuinness himself wishes us luck!

Count me in! Quick before I change my mind again :-)
Like others, I quit for 2 years, then started again (why?!), it's always my go to in times of stress. I'm currently in the process of moving house, so hopefully that will work in my favour; although I never smoke indoors, there will be plenty to keep myself busy.
    Good luck everyone

I know just how you feel thriftylynny I started smoking when I was at school and smoked pretty much all of my adult life, except for a couple of attempts at stopping years ago that never lasted. I had reached a point like you, knowing that the smoking was doing me no good at all and being too ashamed and scared of going for essential maintenance visits to the doctors and dentists because of the inevitable questions and lectures about smoking.

Getting my teeth all fixed and whitened was one of my biggest motivators to stay off the cigs and after that I knew there was no going back.
