Humm... I can now admit to what happened last week.... Our cat flap is now permanently locked.
Our cats are good at dispatching mice but often bring them in live and let them go - occasionally the little things escape and we either wait for cats to dispatch (they will wait next to couch, radiator, vacuum cleaner wherever mouse escaped to) or catch them to release them if they are not injured (I've become very good at this). Family teamwork at its best lol. But I have reached the end of my tether ...
Last week quick tidy up, vacuum of carpet. As soon as switch vac on strange noise and what looks like a conker flew out- curse Ds bend to get conker and realise squashed mouse head  - must have been hiding in the beater bar compartment and cats stopped guarding vac - we didn't see them bring it in
. So strip machine down to find rest of body and clean line of blood on carpet - was not a good time to talk of beheading a mouse last week. Urrrghhhhh
Edit Forgot to say ancient hedgerow over the road at back of house where cats make a beeline for so there is a constant supply from outside ......
   Asbo cat knows not to bring stuff in the house, and give her her due, she hasnt done. So i would know that anything inside the house has come from within
They do behead them very neatly...the ones i have had to pick up outside have been done with almost surgical precision :rotfl:I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Health & Beauty, Greenfingered Moneysaving and How Much Have You Saved boards. These 2 are mother and daughter and they are crazy hunters compared to the other cats I've had (5 others). I blame the cat flap - so hope to find the bodies outside too - just got to remember to let them in now lol.

On the subject of spiders, can I ask why people are so scared of these harmless creatures?
My Mrs has an irrational fear of them and has passed it on to the kids!
Im often asked to remove them, I just cup them in my hand and put them out....or just scare them off and tell them I've put them out!!;)
I can't understand it either ... they are so much smaller than people. Even babies dwarf them.
My SIL has passed her phobia onto my DS. He was perfectly fine with all things creepy crawly until she came into our livesSmiles are as perfect a gift as hugs...

No, I just have a window in the kitchen and the back door when she is being really lazy
I yelled at herIt sounds awful but she brought a mouse in the house and then took it upstairs and under my bed. She hasnt done it since
She will just leave them by the back door or on the patio now
I'm not in the habit of yelling at herI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Health & Beauty, Greenfingered Moneysaving and How Much Have You Saved boards. I think this is what's happening. These fears are passed down from adults when we are small children. My mum is terrified and so was my Gran when she was alive but my Grandad would pick them up in his bare hands :eek:0 -

The Udis are £2.95 on A.com and £1 on T.com but if your local is selling them for £1 (mine is/was) they should go through on a cc/hd at £1 but will comp at £2.95 v £1 giving you £2.05 on a £1 spend. My local was oos but I still got the apg for what I ordered.
Confused myself there but think I got it right :rotfl:0 -

I'm puzzled as to why a few people seemed scared by my spider pic, since it's only a pic and cannot harm  Believe it or not I am scared of spiders myself and have been since around the age of 7. I'm trying to control the fear though and eventually, hopefully overcome it, since it's silly and irrational. That's why I like the transparent box as I can look at the spider knowing that it can't get to me and at the same time ask myself why I fear such a small, harmless creature  it really makes no sense.
The other thing that puzzles me about myself is that I've been trying to overcome this fear for years and a few times have almost succeeded but in times of stress I go back to being irrationally scared again  It really is frustrating as I'd like to overcome this phobia once and for all
I think thats the whole thing about phobias, they are completely irrational. I think there is also a difference between a phobia and an intense dislike.
For example, I intensely dislike frogs and toads. No idea why. I used to cry when I saw them, but don't any more. I can look at pictures, watch them on tv, look at them in tanks, and even look at them "in person" as long as I am a reasonable distance away (so they can't jump on me!).
However, I have a phobia of snakes. Again, no idea why, nothing has ever happened. My phobia is so extreme I can't look at pictures of them, watch them on tv, go anywhere where there is a possibility of there being one, and if I see them in real life (seen a few unfortunately) I immediately start crying, screaming and run away. I also have the same reaction to pictures, tv, and even toy snakes! I know its irrational, I know a picture can't hurt me, but I can't control the reaction I have.
My inlaws showed me some holiday snaps a while ago, they'd gone to Vegas and whilst walking in the desert they'd seen a snake. I confirmed that there was no pictures of the snake before looking at their snaps. However, they had forgotten but in one of the pictures they were stood by a shop that sold toy snakes (the quite realistic looking ones). I pretty much had a full on panic attack, and was crying. They know I am phobic of snakes, but ever they were surprised by my reaction. I couldn't control it, I wish I could.
So, hopefully this explains why some people get upset by pictures. I'm sure, like me, they wish they didn't, but it is complelely irrational and uncontrollable (and highly embarassing when it happens in the company of others, believe me).0
