Pk04 I'm petrified of lightning (and I hate spiders but only certain sizes, hate it when they go scurrying
)
My parents seem to like reminding me I wasn't when I was younger as they remember me happily running across a field in a thunderstorm. Funny as I've got older I seem to be more scared.
I'm sure it was QoC who was made to sit and watch lightning to be cured  maybe we need to get all the elite in a room with a big spider
Yes it was me

Dont get me wrong there are some fantastic agency carers out there but Dad would not tolerate a different person each visit.
He did say last week he was happy for a few days in hospice just to see what it is like.
We have been told he would have nurses visit twice a day to check him and make him a cuppa. More care could be arranged when needed. I think if dad is using oxygen every day then we might have gone beyond that. He was quite cheerful in hospital over weekend but as his bloods got low he rapidly declined.
If employing a carer I know he would prefer to see same person most of the time.
Sorry hard to get accross what I mean but if he is getting carer twice a day they will not have the medical knowledge to assess him.
I would prefer to stay with him myself, which he might actually allow now. Sister says they are lurching from one infection to the next. Had been told that nurses would test bloods and arrange when needed.
My sister does play things down a bit but if she has had oxygen training I would have expected them to think she is there all the time (which is impossible).
Dad will not be out tomorrow as stuff not delivered yet.
His attitude to visitors has not changed.
What I dont get is all these agenceies working together Sue Ryder, Macmillan and Marie Curie you would think they would have standardised plans for this illness. We were told will be nurse twice a day as they can approach his needs better.
I am scared of them letting him home and having to go to hospice within a few days after another crisis. The plan we have been told is to keep him out of hospital and comfortable.
Sorry words not coming out right but I think you will understand.

VT I am sorry to hear you are now going through the struggle I did when my mum came out of the hospice.
There are promises made by nurses/social workers that cannot be fulfilled due to lack of resources.
I was promised Marie Curie nurses to help with mum's care when she went home but this ended up being agency staff as you say not nurses at all. Most were fine but there were couple luckily not assigned to sit just help me lift mum that I got out the house as quick as they came without mum seeing them.
She was assigned a Macmillan nurse for palliative care by her consultant about 2 years before she passed away when she was told there was nothing more to be done. She built up a lovely relationship with this lady but as FC said they are there more as support. Although did keep close eye on mum's medications and could prescribe higher doses and change some. Mum would chat to her about things that were bothering her like when she became incontinent. And the Macmillan nurse stayed the same nurse right until mum's passing and made sure things were in place that were needed and became a great support to me in those last few weeks. :A
I cannot really fault the NHS for what was provided, it just isn't quite what you are told.0 -
£20 for a lipstick  :faints:
Well to be fair it was that offer that Mimi posted a couple of weeks back. So I got the lipstick, some cleanser and the freebies that were on offer that day.
I have had to be very restrained whilst Im sitting here feeling bored. The urge to buy stuff is overwhelmingYesterday I got a txt from O2 about 50% off boots at ASOS. I got all the way to the checkout with a pair of Chelsea boots in the basket then came to my senses
:rotfl:
I've also just been paid for all the work I did a couple of months back so Im feeling flush :rotfl:0
