    Autism / Asperger's Screening Quiz
You scored a total of 35

Based upon your responses to this autism screening measure, it appears that you are likely suffering from an autism spectrum disorder, or Asperger's disorder. People who score similarly often qualify for a diagnosis of autism or Asperger's.

People with an autism spectrum disorder often suffer from severe and sustained impairment in social interaction and the development of restricted, repetitive patterns of behavior, interests, and activities. The disturbance must cause clinically significant impairment in social, occupational, or other important areas of functioning.

You should not take this as a diagnosis of any sort, or a recommendation for treatment. However, it would be advisable and likely beneficial for you to seek further diagnosis from a trained mental health professional soon to rule out a possible anxiety disorder.:rotfl::rotfl:

I do not suffer from anxiety at all but I do believe I did not get the brain to mouth filter and the tact and diplomacy gene and what ever I say gets taken in the wrong way and I always say the wrong thing at the wrong moments

That's life :o kids and what they need and want come first. You are in a better position now to have what you want. You wouldn't change the fact that you did without so the kids could have their things :T:T

    Tis true. ;)

I just did the quiz, scored 24. :)

Far too late for me. Night. x

    [1] Oh what a shame:(:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.

You are "not likely currently suffering from...". As if it's possible to develop autism later in your life.:(:rotfl: (Explanation: in other words, me frown at the quiz making an inaccurate suggestion by saying "not currently".)

    [2] :rotfl:

[3] Yes.:) (I didn't 'want' to make the quiz say I had ASD though. I answered it completely honestly, the only way I could!) :o:rotfl:I've no idea which way I have to answer the quiz to get it to say I don't have it. I suspect that comes from your intuitiveness though?

I think it comes as being a parent of a sufferer ( I hate that word by the way, because I don't believe sufferers suffer :D ) and having seen the process through.
Or maybe Im just a good parent who has worked hard to gain a good insight into the condition?

Im very proud that I've did that. I only ever did it so I could understand my son. The fact that I can understand others with the same condition is a very nice bonus :)

Apparently there are only a couple of syndromes which, in some degree, are actually desirable.

One of them is a syndrome where the person has a body like a footballer or athlete's body. That can be desirable, although it does have its problems too. The other is Asperger's syndrome.

I wouldn't want to have a syndrome where I had, for example, congenital heart problems or something.

It was Uta Frith, on BBC Radio 4, who said Asperger's was "desirable" (or that some of its features were) and there are references to that on the Internet. Not everyone who has it would agree with that, and it affects people with it differently. I think she actually said it was the only disability that was desirable, but I've found the other condition that I think is, so I think there are actually only two "desirable" (or partially) disability conditions to have.

That said, you could argue it any other way. There are those with dyslexia for instance who, despite their difficulties, might not see it as a huge problem. There are more entrepreneurs with dyslexia. You live with what you have got and never experience anything in any other way. To the blind person (that is simplistic of course, as there are degrees of blindness and it's not necessarily totally black) that has never 'seen', they have never have any knowledge of seeing so how could they see (no pun intended) it from the perspective of having sight and thus assess their condition in relation to that? We may tend to assume people are unhappy that they cannot see - that they "miss" being able to see - but they have never had it (obviously not those who have lost their sight during their life, or at least their awareness-life, post being a baby etc.) so how can they "miss" something that they have never had to miss?

It's more complicated that what I've ended with here of course.

God knows. I never get any plot in a film or music or anything.
    Just details, no overall gist:rotfl:.

So, to me, perhaps tell him the same, they are just singing something, doesn't necessarily have any meaning!

Ooo...though...that renders all song lyrics (potentially) meaningless, which I would not say that they were. But, as for me working out what they mean, the overall storyline, unless it is explained to me in words (e.g. in a film review), then I (generally) have no clue...:o:o

But, then, that's the thing isn't it - there are different interpretations?

I think that song (assuming it is Survivor's Eye of the Tiger) is about surviving isn't it? Got the eye of the tiger. The acute perception? The ability to see things and, therefore, greater strength?

(I don't know - what would you say - or think - it means?)

Savvy....did you watch chasing shadows on ITV recently? It was a drama about a detective who most definately had Aspergers. Very good and if you can watch it on catch up, Id recommend it.

You have answered this autism screening in such a way as to suggest that you are not likely currently suffering from an austism spectrum disorder, including Asperger's disorder.

You should not take this as a diagnosis or recommendation for treatment in any way, though.

I have been fortunate enough (depending on your view) to have taken part in some clinical research into whether ASD could have genetic links. I was happy to do it as research is the only way to find answers to these things. The results were interesting to say the least.

I might also say that if I had wanted that quiz to say I had ASD, Id have known exactly which boxes to tick ;):)

    I was curious. I got: 12
