YL what colour are your worktops and floor?
The floor will be mottled grey tiles. The worktops havent been chosen yet, yes I know its a bit odd to be choosing paint before worktops but thats the way it has worked out!
We are now looking at a greys, which come in any number of variations and might satisfy my liking for neutral and OHs liking for colour.
Have spent 2 hours cleaning the plaster dust and grime off every surface in the kitchen - I can actually cook in there - for now at least.0 -
its been a lonnnnnnnnnnnng day......I was abruptly woken at 5 am to the sound of clattering in the kitchen. DS decided he wanted to make a chocolate cake to make me better, I got there to find eggs broken and cocoa powder with a whisk in a mixing bowl..........so I decided to help him make it edible and then we added some food colouring to it aswell and slung it in the oven. WM x2, TD x1, 1 sink of WUDUPA, dustbin day - bins emptied and washed, compost and chicken dinner delivered next door.
Made some potions for kitchen windowsill in matching empty liquid soap dispensers - vinegar and washing up liquid, half water/half stainsrout, 1/8th bleach 7/8 water with a few drips of washing up liquid to counteract the smell. Now so much easier to pump a drip into a tea stained cup to soak off, or pump some onto a scourer to S&S, or follow young Skints around for impromptu carpet stains
by 7 am I was thoroughly exhausted and under influence of painkillers so I forced the two youngest Skints back to sleep, but didn't hear the alarm go off.
DS and DD4 decluttered, then had a bargain cook off to use up bargains.:money:
Hawaiian Care Bear Pizzas (Billy bear ham 20p on pineapple 5p, cheese 10p, tom salsa 5p and tiger bread rolls 10p - 50p total) Lemon 5p, Pineapple 15p, Sultana 10p and Sunflower bread 5p and butter 10p pudding made with nice NDN eggs and my whoopsied double cream 10p sugar 5p - 60p total (I made it in slow pot crock in oven tray topped up as a Bain Marie - tasted better than any Mr T F!nest or Marksies pudding ever). Makings of HM curry - roasted veg in 10p oil, whoopsie leeks 10p, free roadkill onions, 3 garlic cloves 5p, whoopsie peppers 10p, whoopsie courgette 10p, whoopsie celery 10p, free chilli off my house plant, to be mixed with boiled veg consisting of 2 x20p whoopsie swede, 10p whoopsie sweet potato, 10p double cream, 1/2 bag of @ldi potatoes 18p, steamer put onto of pan of boiling veggies with rice 10p........then bulk buy spices from cupboards about 10p max, and coconut milk powder from my @pproved food stash 10p, pot of cucumber raita 5p, whoopsied garlic naans 10p - total £1.73
total all day feast x 3 adults and two young skints £2.83 on one oven and one hob ring. :money:
Managed to source more free wood today on school run 6 wooden pallets, and some wood scraps from skip, with house owner and building site manager's permission. :money: - it makes me feel better about running the car 20 miles a day just for school runs if I know I will be offsetting my future heating costs.
Thinking that if/when my current cooker insurer refuses to renew the insurance by reason of age (it's now 9 years old and costs me £60 to keep going, even if I don't call them out!) that I should invest in a wood burning cooker asap before the electric one conks out, so that I can run the two side by side..easier to find £3 for a net of logs than trying to source a freecycle/2nd hand cooker/cheap new one on the quick when my one actually gives out.
Do any flyladies cook with wood? any tips to make the most of it in summer and winter? TIA.
Right time to get some zzz in while DD1 skintwatches, before bathtime...Back later :wave:The cold never bothered me anyway0 -

Had the afternoon off but was so tired that I had to have a nap (I seem to be tired a lot).
Went to my dad's award ceremony last night. I got a bit tongue-tied when I met my dad's boss K (he's closer to my age than my dad's). It is rare for me to feel that way when I first meet someone, but I'm useless at knowing whether someone likes me back (he had no wedding ring, but I wasn't able to ascertain whether he was single). Just going to have to put it down to a lovely experience and the fact that I can still have those feelings. He was lovely though!
Oooh strictlys on

Deco.. just invite yourself to the Christmas do
.. go girl!
Off to make a cuppa, get out my knitting and do nothing for the remainder of the evening.. I am really tired and looking forward to getting in my nice clean bed tonight.. almost as much as I am looking forward to receiving Dots new bed and swapping Pixie in my room for 2 chests of drawers from theirs..
guess I'm not and I'm going to waste 3 hours upstairs trying to get a monster to sleep.. I am so very very effed off with bed times and these 2 girls.. it might not be so bad if they slept more than 2 hours at a time but they don't they scream half the night...LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

Had some lovely news today (sarcasm!).. Kaiser chiefs are doing a gig at the pub opposite my house next Friday... = Police not letting anyone down the street.. so I'm going to have to go collect DD2 from the end of the street.. !!!!!!!!!
