Advice on a DASH CAM needed!
Hi all
I’m on the hunt to purchase a dash cam for my car and was wandering which ones people are using I need it to be the following
HD video recording
Small and discreet
Needs to display time and date
Really clear video playback when viewing
Important – Has to be very good at night recording especially at this time of the year as the dark nights approach us
Battery life doesn’t matter as im going to hardwire it in to the car
Which ones are you using, what is your opinion of it
can you post some links so I can make a comparison
Thanks in advance

don't be fooled by gimmicks, GPS-has a plus and a minus do you really want show your speed to an insurer in case of an accident.
Night vision, think camera behind glass, light on glass reflects back into camera lense, it then renders NV useless and also your NV footage.
H.265 encoding rated is the way to go, M-JPEG tend have gaps in the footage when the segments are being stored to SD/HD card.
Motion sensor why? its facing the front so wont turn on if you get hit behind or by the side and similar if you get one front and one rear the motion only picks up from where their facing.
camera that has format feature on the cam, its easier that way to make the fullest use and compatibility for the SD card!.
by a decent SDHD card don't go ebay cheapies (theyre usually fake too.)
buy one that has good reviews on its low light recording!
I'd rather buy one that has a capacitor for its power source, this means that the camera slowly disperses power and shuts down properly so it has time to save everything properly, battery ones tend to die pretty quickly.
hardwiring into the cars power for a consistant power source is pretty big no my book not only will you drain your battery and dscharge your car battery, youll also cook the DVR camera all the time without chance for it to cool down, switchable power source so it comes on on igniton and off with ignition off is the way to go.
hope all that covers things, have fun read reviews, and again don't be fooled by gimmick features.0 -
