Doing a quick google of that error code, it appears my HDD is indeed knackered. Before I rush out and buy a new one, do the experts agree that this is the problem and buying a new HDD will more than likely fix the problem?

    Thanks for all the help.

Apologies if I have missed it but I haven't seen any mention of you running CHKDSK in the last 12 posts. See post #20 for instructions.

Can't do it at the moment as the restore has failed. I am almost certain it is HDD failure now, as that's the one that would make most sense.
  • have you done a backup of your files

Why would any forum member want help from an unknown poster with zero credibility on this forum?

You need to earn respect on the forum by publicly showing that you are capable of actually helping, not by demanding that other members PM you or stating that you have a worthless certification in your signature!

Only a bell end feels the need to quote their worthless certification in their signature!

Bell ends need not post on here.

No need for that only offering help, your the bell end for even bothering to mention that.

    But it appears that
Borse thanks for the offer of help and any assistant you can provide I would be more than gratefully. However, be aware that I will not be phoning you and I will certainly not be letting you to remote in to my machine. You have no creditable on the website having only been on here a month and anybody can claim to be anything on the net

We obviously disagree then and it won't take most forum members long to realise which posters are best ignored.

The reason that I bothered to post, was to warn members to be very careful of accepting advice from unknown newbies who try to discuss problems off the forum via PM, telephone, remote login etc.

You are not taking any advice on board, so why should anyone follow your pathetic advice!

Fergie i sent you a pm,

I doubt its hardware related its rare you have a fault with processor its going to be software related telling your cpu and memory to work harder. Reply to my pm

The OP was already in very safe hands, getting the help and support required from knowledgeable posters, long before you jumped onto this thread with your demands for information via PM.

That is not how this forum works, so if you don't like that I suggest you find another place to offer your so called help to gullibles who may be impressed by worthless words in your signature, rather than a proven ability for fault diagnosis.

Thanks for all your help. It appears I was right and it was my HDD.

Managed to pick up a 1TB HDD tonight for £40 and it seems to be running a lot better. I previously had a 500GB HDD, so managed to get an upgrade at the same time.
