Beware anyone wanting an EPC report doing, we used the first one that came up following a google search and paid online and about 2 weeks later we still haven't heard from anyone at all.
I would not recommend these at all and further when Ive started to look into the firm details for contact there is only one contact number which you can't get to speak to anyone, just get an automated message no matter what time of the day to call it saying we can't take your call and you can't leave a message but you can email them, which we did and still no contact has been received.
Contact addresses are London Essex and Spain so you do the maths. My advice is don't touch this firm and if you have done so already hope that you have paid by credit card. Contact your credit card firm asap and make them aware asap.0 -
Contact Action Fraud about the practices of First Choice EPC they are very interested to hear from anyone who has had emails or letters from them. It is a scam. Their terms and conditions are not legally binding. They are tricking people into paying them money to avoid court action at a time when they are moving house and applying for mortgages so feel more vulnerable and inclined to give in. Spread the word and help protect others from falling victim to this crime. Go to Action Fraud web site actionfraud.police.uk or for excellent advice ring action fraud on 030012320400

I ordered an EPC through this internet company - very happy to take the money but do not provide the service. Don't answer emails or phone. I am fortunate enough to have paid on my credit card BUT given they could still come good, prevents the re-ordering of another EPC. Could be a problem with conveyancing given they can respond within 60 days. Be very careful!
Will report this to Trading Standards0 -
I am another 'victim' of firstchoice epc with similar story. I ve now got a bill for £439.95 and court action pending for cancelling a epc 2 days after pressing for a free quote online and not even having a appointment! I thought it was a scam so I'm glad I found this forum as I won't be paying up either!0

Someone asked if anyone has had an EPC carried out by this company, I am an energy assessor and I received a request from them to carry out an EPC, I contacted the client to arrange an appointment and he was very surprised I called as it was 4 weeks ago when he had ordered the EPC and paid for it. Due to it taking so long and he couldn't get hold of First Choice EPC, he had the EPC carried out by someone else. However he did have a rental property that needed one so I contacted First Choice EPC to ok that we could change the address. They OK'd it.
I carried out the EPC, sent it back to First Choice EPC. Then I received an invoice from First Choice EPC for myself and they said I would receive payment by BACS.
This was in September, I have chased numerous times and still not been paid. After reading all of the above I don't expect to receive payment either!0 -
Hello Sorry to hear all your issues with this company but I used them 2 months ago and had no problems at all. Apart from now being on their mailing list with no clear way of unsubscribing. I get a daily email asking me to upload my agent details so they can send them a cop of my epc. They don't have to as I've already sent it but thwy seem to be very keen to do it for me!
Just thought I would add this to the discussion.0 -

Nice to hear from you after 2 years.0 -
This is a complete scam, doesnt matter if the guy threatens you with charging extra money, he wont go through with it because he will be shot down in flames in court if it even gets that far,
I requested an EPC from them, even though their website clearly states no upront payment they have taken 39 quid from my credit card. just been on the phone to barclaycard and informed them its a scam, they have broken their own terms, not contacted me after 6 days even though their website says 1-3 days delivery, and raised a dispute which barclaycard are now dealing with. I am expecting an email from him telling me I now owe him more cash because I have cancelled ... would like to see him try get it..
I urge everybody to contact their Credit card companies and ask for a chargeback of his charges, and also ask if this company can be put on a scammers watch list.
Good luck all0 -
You can also take this guy to small claims court, search "moneyclaim online"
Very easy to do and cheap (all charges and interest will be added to the claim you make against him). you have to get his contact details though .. so anybody that he may have bought proceedings agains should have his address and should post it here. but as I said .. I am sure he is just threatening court action .. there is no way he will win, but a threat and even a claim form is enough to make most people pay up... dont be bullied .. take the fight to him0 -
I have now reported this company to the action fraud police who have asked me to inform anybody else that has been scammed to contact them to report it, they will contact me again in 28 days to let me know how things are progressing. action fraud police contact details can be found in post No. 33 above. I urge all to contact them.0
