House shares and credit ratings

Hi there,

I am likely to be applying for a mortgage within the next 6 months.

I currently work down south and live in a house share. I was registered at my parents' address in the Midlands, however as of today they have moved to North Yorkshire.

I now need to either re-register at their new address, or at the house share I live in during the week.

One of the tenants I live with has financial problems and is currently in an IVA. If I registered my details at this address, would this affect my credit rating and lessen my chances of getting a mortgage?

Regards

  • No. Credit ratings apply to individuals, not addresses.

As above, only linked by financial products (eg joint account, mortgage etc) addresses make no difference but do ensure you are on the electoral roll somewhere and make sure this is the same address you use on the application for a mortgage

    hope this helps
