There is a saying in Yorkshire: "If you've got a black dog, he's got a blacker b*gger."

I think many people here have got darkmatter101 completely wrong. People say he is either incredibly stupid, or a schoolboy with Top Gear fantasies posting on his Mum's iPad when she's not looking. I think he is neither.

He knows enough about high-end cars to make some superficially relevant comments, and yet he posts the 'half-braked' Yaris story without a hint of irony. His forum persona is an amusing mix of naive innocence and self-important macho posturing. The laughable comments about the Yaris and the overtaking ban on sub-2-litre cars don't really go together in one personality.

My guess - he is about 30, knows his stuff (up to a point, not expert enough to judge) and has a mischievous sense of humour. He comes on here with some frankly incredible stories, and gets otherwise perfectly sensible people running in rings to correct or condemn him. Personally, I think he is great value and I hope he posts some more. We all need a laugh.

I bet he still lives with his mum.

It's possible. Once or twice I have thought I have seen signs of deadpan humour that has gone over people's heads, so busy were they joining the pile-on. So who knows, he could be pulling everybody's legs. Still not as funny as that person who posted about someone wanting to bury a Great Dane in their garden. The number of people who swallowed that was hilarious.

  • He is definatly a wind up, a troll who keeps himself amused by causing a stir. Every forum has one, you'd miss him if he left. Once your aware non of its real it becomes quite entertaining.

Post from this cretin aren't a wind up, and sadly a few people only dip in and out of motoring related boards for genuine, and sincere advice, and can't actually discriminate between sound advice and copper plated tools. Morons like this should be banned and the moderators should asap.
