Jobs fair tomorrow

The t-shirt is the problem. I wouldn't wear any slogan to a jobs fair - as mentioned they are 'pre-interviews'. Wear a smart shirt or suit and add a neat rainbow badge and I am sure you would get far, far, fewer comments. But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

If you want to draw attention to yourself and risk a sanction, do please wear the famous t shirt.
If you actually want a job, why not wear a suit and aim to impress?
To be fair, I have never seen anyone wear a suit at a jobs fair when walking around the stalls.
I have seen many people wearing T-shirts. You only pick up leaflets at most job fairs anyway.0 -
The company I work for were involved in a jobs fair on Wednesday. Was massively attended (see photo below which shows only part of the jobs fair) and very popular despite unemployment being about 1% in this area. A lot of people were dressed very smartly – maybe not in a suit but in a shirt and trousers. If anyone had turned up in the kind of attire GG described they would probably not have been looked upon very favourably.

I've hosted job fairs for previous companies before, and I was also one of the decision makers for calling people back in.
The main things that give a good first impression was how interested the candidate was, how knowledgeable they where and how keen (including dress sense).
I have never been to a public jobs fair, as ours where industry specific, but when we discussed the people we had talked to, the candidates that ticked the three boxes, got called back.
You get so many people for the same role, making the right impression really sets you apart.0 -
A slogan on a Tee-shirt will not in itself prevent the OP from getting a job. Slovenly dress sense certainly will.0

So making the effort to dresss smartly and appropriately will help someone stand out for the right reasons. I've attended job fairs in a previous role (when I worked for a local college) and you could easily see which people were serious about finding work or education.
A t-shirt with any slogan wouldn't get you far - nothing whatsoever to do with sexuality.0 -
A deliberate post about the t-shirt again to wind people up and watch the reaction. Just ignore it.' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".0

I may have missed something at some point, but what happened to that admin role in a kitchen sales place in Todmorden?
That didn't last long, did it?Professional Data Monkey

Are you being serious? they can't sanction me because of a t-shirt, sorry to bring this up again but my adviser threatened me with a sanction last year just before Christmas because I refused to remove the t-shirt, so I made a complaint against him and in the complaint form I said, I will take legal action if you continue bullying me to remove it, when I said legal he backed down then, it just shows Job Centre make up rules as they go along.
If they do that then I will seek legal advice.
We are just about to start interviews and sorry have to say really do not care what sexuality you are or that matter what it says. It makes no difference to your ability to do the job or task at hand. But if someone turned up in a tea shirt ?? Nice.
Perhaps I have missed something but how does please do not wear that tea shirt become bullying???Happiness, Health and Wealth in that order please!:A0 -

Said far better than me. Dressing like you don't give a monkeys is going to set you apart for all the wrong reasons.
Is this about your right to be gay or your right to wear a tea shirt?
Right to be gay no problem but right to wear a tea shirt for this situation?Happiness, Health and Wealth in that order please!:A0
