Looking for debt advice

Hiya thanks for you reply.
That's the correct amount. It's not a catalogue it was a personal loan. Going though some letter I found it was home shopping personal finance i think. (hspf) Then we started receiving letters from the bank of Scotland regarding the loan.
It is owed to our current supplier.
The biggest loans have frozen the interest as my partner has a CCJ against him.
Hi again
Thanks for clarifying re: "home shopping", it was just a bit ambiguous to me!
Re: the interest, it was some of the smaller debts I was thinking of as you'd mentioned the CCJs in an earlier post. It's just that there are some disproportionately large payment offers being made to some of the smaller non-CCJ creditors at the moment, for example
Wescot Credit..................1800......200.......0
and
Debt recovery..................350.......216.7.....0
to name but two.
I'm just wondering if there is a more efficient way of pooling the money you have available to offer, with a view to getting everyone to freeze interest and charges?
Re: gas and electric, thanks again for clarifying that it is your current supplier. In that case, I wouldn't advise any tinkering with that particular arrangement.
Regards

Wescot is one of them with a CCJ, that debt was originally £5,000, some was written off and we have managed to pay some off since the interest was frozen. So maybe if we speak to them again they may lower the payment. Thank you.
I will ring the debt recovery company and see if they would accept lower, but he came to the door about that one, and I just agreed to an amount because I had just come out of surgery that day and was still a bit groggy.

Our council tax is paid weekly.
Over how many weeks?
Surely not £125 per week? It's on a BMW my partners been driving since he was 17 (now 30) and has no claims bonus.
And it's still £792 per year?
BTW.When you say he has "no claims bonus", do you mean he has full NCB, some NCB, or zero NCB?The other things we don't pay for/buy.
Not even entertainment or presents?
Regarding the APRs, you need to find out what they are, so you can make sure you are paying the minimum on the lower ones, and (as and when finances allow), the maximum on highest one(s).0 -

29 a week, roughly £125 a month.

Yeah, his insurance is up for renewal next month so he may be able to get a better deal.
Full NCB
Not even entertainment or presents?
No, because we literally do not have a spare penny to spend on them. Like I say Xmas was paid by part of the car loan. My daughters nan usually pays for us to take our little one somewhere and if not we spend a lot of time in the park.
The couple of times my partners gone for a drink or we've gone out for lunch its crippled us for the rest of the week, so we just don't do it.Nov GC £0/£2100 -
If I read your SOA right, the Debt recovery debt will be paid off in two more payments (ie. in October or November), which will reduce your monthly shortfall to under £95.
With a £100-ish reduction in your groceries spending, you would be in the black each month.
Once the PAY TV and mobiles are out of contract, that'd be another £76 (or more, depending on how many phones) free each month.
Out of interest, how many mobiles are there, and when do the contracts (mobiles and Sky) end?
BTW.What kind of phones do you have?
If they're top of the range, Smart Phones, could you sell them, and swap the SIMs into cheap, basic phones?0 -

It should be but for some reason I havn't had the money to make a repayment yet.

My contact ends October 2015, I believe my partners is around May next year, and I have no idea about the sky. My partners going to ring sky after work as it's in his name.
BTW.What kind of phones do you have?
My partner has a cheap little Nokia because he broke his phone he got with his contract and I have an iPhone 4 which I suppose I could see if I can get a few quid for it.

So it's only 2 mobiles.
That makes the contracts very
It also means that, once out of contract, there's around £56 pm (£672 pa) to be saved.
In the meantime, it'd certainly be worth contacting the providers (and Sky), to see if you can at least reduce the tariffs.
Even reducing them by 50% would save you £63 pm/£756 pa.
Ultimately, if you can't increase your income and/or reduce your spending, a DMP may be the only option.0 -
Right so far this weekend we have cut the sky down to £36 a month for phone, broadband and tv. (I would have totally got rid of it but my partner wouldn't let me )
I have found out he no longer has life insurance or home and contents () so I have used a price comparison site and have managed to get these for around £9 and £10 a month.
Orange won't consider lowering my contract until I'm up to date with my bill.
My partner is going to pt his car off the road for the time being so that will save on petrol, tax and insurance.
I done my shopping this week using mysupermarket but it was still £60, I just can't seem to get it down, has anyone got any tips?
I am so grateful to everyone on here who has replied, it's really made me open my eyes at were we are going wrong.Nov GC £0/£2100 -
Which supermarket do you go to? Have you tried switching to Lidl or Aldi?

Thank you for replying.
I use asda online.
I used the mysupermarket site and that compared my shopping to aldi as well, and asda was still the cheapest as aldi didn't have quite alot of stuff I bought.
Do you find you can do a full shop in Aldi/Lidl without having to go to the bigger supermarkets?Nov GC £0/£2100
