  • Clairabelle, I took delivery of the Crystal today and I can honestly say you should go no run and buy it !!!
Its very well made, nice and deep, very squishy and definitely a medium firmness.
What I love the most is the way it supports me when I am laid on my back, I have quite a scooped lower back and I don't usually sleep on my back as I never felt supported, always a little room between my back and the mattress, well not with this one there s no room at all.
I want to thank Pinkypants for the excellent and professional advice, I am so glad I listened to you because I feel I got a really good product for a mind blowing price.
I am looking fwd to a very good nights sleep tonight :)
  • You're most welcome passion flower.

Hope they told you to turn it regularly, weekly for the 1st 8-12 weeks (sorry) and then once a month after that.

You may notice that the fillings settle a little where you body has been, this isn't a fault with the mattress. It's just like walking on the same bit of carpet. The fillings flatten, turning the mattress will help.

It is a beast of a product for sure. Sleep well.

  • Well the mattress gets a thumbs up from both of us this morning. And even though we should sleep on a line right now as we are so tired after the moving house on Monday, hubby said he had an excellent night sleep on it.
So there, two happy punters :D
  • db post :(
  • That is wonderful news passion Flower, thank you so much for your feedback. I am really glad you both got a comfy sleep. And you say it's not super firm, but gives good support? I am a bit worried about 3000 being too firm for me. You weigh less than me though and find it comfortable and not too firm?
I posted yesterday as I went to my local Restus/Sleepeeze retailer and he would only let me look at Siesta beds! Primarily an Aloe Vera topped jobbie, that Happy beds seem to be selling an exact of ? And it looked like it had Memory foam in the topper and I have some silly allergy thing to it. Anyone know of Siesta beds?

I just need to take the plunge and buy one!
  • Spring count DOES NOT determine how firm a mattress is, it is just the number of springs.

Firmness is achieved by the thickness of the wire that makes up those springs.

I know very little of Siesta beds, but alarm bells are ringing that you couldn't try the Restus beds.

Maybe Siesta isn't online so you can't compare prices and they are simply trying to profit more.

Thank you, I just need to get the spring count thing out of my head.

Totally agree with the comments about the local bed shop. I am steering clear, I was hoping visiting would enable me to try the beds that I had narrowed my search down to and now I feel totally lost.
  • Yeap it's just a number.

We do seem obsessed with it though. Many in the trade are the same way, with some asking suppliers to put pocket springs in the base just to up the spring count of a bed. Madness really.

As long as you go for a pocket sprung model 1000+ springs and it's the correct tension for you, you won't go far wrong.

  • Thank you Pinky. The Cashmere and Saturn/Savoy look like my shortlist. Passion Flower has added the Crystal on. :) I need to plump for one and go for it. I want to order before Sunday, that is my goal. I am getting fed up with myself for faffing.

We are really short on independents here on the South Coast. Most local ones seem to stock low spec.
  • Definitely not to firm, in fact the opposite, it feels soft and the padding makes it really squishy, now I expect the squishy will die down a bit with wear like Pinky mentioned but the support will still be there because of those pockets.
Honestly for the money its a thing of beauty. If I would have paid the £800 for it I would have said it was money well spent. I will get a few more nights on it before the weekend if I feel any different I will update this thread.
