Is he putting money to one side for his tax and NI payments when they are due.
Do an SOA and we will help you budget.
It is possible that the company he is subcontracted to will be paying his NI and tax.
This sort of arrangement is common in the building industry - it's got a special name but can't think of it!0 -

If the company pays his tax and NI I would question whether he is self employed or an employee, sounds a but suss to me.
Does he get paid holidays.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
