It is possible that the company he is subcontracted to will be paying his NI and tax.

This sort of arrangement is common in the building industry - it's got a special name but can't think of it!

Reading that link it sounds like he may have got his wires crossed as that says they can't seize it if it's a personal loan just hire purchase.

If the company pays his tax and NI I would question whether he is self employed or an employee, sounds a but suss to me.


Does he get paid holidays.
