Failed credit check after moving house

Hi,
My partner and I just moved house last week. I tried to set up new broadband contract that was on special offer, offering to pay the line rental upfront. The contract was not set up because the credit check failed. I thought it was strange because I had checked Experian the week before and it was rated as good. The company told me to check with Equifax and when I filled out the online form, the security questions they asked did not apply to me and mentioned a mortgage, which I do not have. Then equifax said there was a problem and did not give me the rating. I suspect that for some reason the credit companies identify me as my landlord, since they asked about the mortgage. I double checked this by getting my boyfriend to attempt the credit check and he was also asked about a mortgage. I told our landlord and he doesn't know what to do.
Has this ever happened to anyone before? If so, how did you resolve it?
Thanks

Hi Poppyfreckles,
Moving home will always impact your credit report as it takes a while for the CRA's to update your details from your local council about the electoral role.
Were you both living at a different address together or with parents prior to the move. It may be worth putting a previous address on the form as they would not be holding the new address for you yet even if you have updated the electoral role, it's far too soon.
Good luck

I had this same problem when trying to get my credit report from Equifax, they asked about a mortgage which I don't have. When I called them they said that they need me to send them 2 utility bills to verify me... although the guy on the phone said that he could see my file!
Anyway I registered with Noddle which I think (I may be wrong) is either Equifax or callcredit but updated a month behind.

Thanks for your suggestions. I'll wait a while and see if my credit report gets updated.0
