Shops are full of fluffy things:rotfl:slippers, jammies, dressing gowns.

Just how many does a person need?

I have no wants or needs to ask DH for xmas, and vice versa. Its all a nonsense. Ferrero rocher and bubble bath will do me.
  • It used to be good when the kiddies were small and we had little money!
Now they've got their own families - I largely get ignored at Christmas. Used to like getting cards - now it's a text message if I'm lucky. I haven't seen one grandson and he's a year old. Haven't got much room where I live so can't have kiddies to stay, and the family are all too busy for me.Why can't we buy glittery stables/shepherds/donkey advent calendars any more? I'm not really religious, but isn't that what it's all about? Not who can spend the most money they don't have on things people don't really want/need. Roll on March when I can get outside again.
  • Going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than standing in a garage makes you a car! Amen.

Not looking 4ward to Xmas. My husband passed away last year, so no one to share it with. Just another day to get through

It can be a sad time of year. This will be the second one without my sister and her husband. See my daughters in the morning but then on my own rest of the day.I do have the choice to go to one of their MIL but they have about 20 people there, who I don't really know.

Hate people feeling sorry for me, I have a lovely warm house, tv, wine and chocolate. Not forgetting Downton Abbey, lot worse people off than me. This will yr be tough without my doggy, she was the best friend ever and liked xmas walk wearing silly hat.

Joannie take care and just look after yourself. x

My husband died just before Christmas ten years ago. It will get easier; I bet you are fed up with people saying that but it is true. My husband loved Christmas and I went along with it for his sake but now I treat it just like any other day. I have stopped putting up decorations, tree, etc. I visit my children and grandchildren to see them open their presents but that is all.

I am always glad when it is all over and things get back to normal.

A warm house, tv, wine and choc sounds just perfect, we will be with in laws, it will be a genteel meal and very pleasant, but I'd just as soon be home with the dog and a dish of xmas pud. Re your own dog, I'm so sorry she's gone, she can't be replaced of course, but I wonder if you've considered fostering a dog? Perhaps an older one not doing well in kennels, who'd love a short stay in a welcoming home? The shelters sadly are full to bursting at this time of year, and if you're not ready to adopt, perhaps fostering would benefit both of you.

Anyway, something to think about, and very best wishes to you and to Joannie.

I've managed to get some annual leave on top of my usual off shift days.

The last night before I went off, the catalogue lady's delivery came through and a variety of night staff from all over the hospital came to collect and pay.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you this year's best seller - Santa hats for chairs.....

I found a similar style on sale for more money than they were paying.

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pack-Santa-Dining-Chair-Covers/dp/B00FSGIQ66

A whole night of people just cooing over and showing off their new purchases.

shoot me, just shoot me now.....
 Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway...

I'm sick to death of the "C" word already, and it's still November!

I'm not a Christian, and I don't have kids, so honestly, it's just another Bank Holiday to me.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
