Hello
I've lurked every month this year....at night...on the bus to work etc...finally remembered my password (not logged in since January) so here I am....
I'd love to join and be put down for £300.
This is for 2adults and a toddler. I do a big shop online every week and aim for food to be £70. ... but then we end up at corner shop etc.
Going to save receipts and add up total so far tomorrow (manana manana)
We really need to rein it in, I work 3 days a week and just about getting the right balance, at this rate I'd have to work more.
Here goes!!! I love these threads they really keep me going on my commute!Debt Free Wannabe by 1 January 2016

I'm really pleased. I've managed not to spend any money on groceries since we went food shopping last friday night. So 6 NSD and we are going shopping tonight... I think, though Fiance seems to have found a baseball game to watch. Oh dear...
Wee need to go tonight as it's a bit mother hubbardish here.

Hiya everyone and welcome new peoples and lurkers :hello:
Caterina - I am on the 'Make £10 a day' challenge and all my cash-back from my card go onto there but it's your own choice IYSWIM. All food MOCs and discounts I count on here though. Seems like you getting well organised there gal :Ttatabubbly wrote: »If you guys eat out, do you include it in your budget or not?Had a voucher for 47p off...not sure whether to minus it from the total... Off to update sig
I managed another NSD today. Had Lambs liver and bacon (freezer) with grilled tomatoes, mash, baked beans and onion gravy. Enough bacon and onion gravy lo for freezer for next liver dinner
Probably shopping tomorrow for fresh stuff/packups and milk but trying to run freezers down generally.
Had a thought - what do you all think ??
Last year I ran freezers down, cleaned out and then bought C* and NY stuff and filled them back up. However, I went shops after C* and there was loads of reduced stuff but nowhere to put it !!
So I think this year I'll run them down, just get necessaries for C* only and then shop after C* to stock back up and for NY.
Comments would be very welcome but I think I could save lots for Jan/Feb next year :T
Sorry long post and hope you all have a super Saturday

Thank you Lynnejk I did have a look and it was really useful. I have looked at the make £10 a day challenge too before, maybe one day I shall get organised enough to do some of those suggested activities and start make £10 a day, too!
Today might not be a NSD because I am going to have a haircut in town, it is prepaid but it is also redeemable against products (hence the great bargain), but the products are not the exact price of the haircut, so I might have to add a few pounds. But at least I shall have shampoo to last me a few more months.
Tonight DH and I are going to see a tribute band to the Eagles (free tickets) so might treat ourselves to a pub drink (entertainment budget), then again we might not as the O2 is Greenwich is expensive.
Have a good day. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
So far this week I have spent:
£43 in Co*tco, I bought bacon, salmon (cut the fillet into 10 single portions) and stewing beef (broke it down into enough for 5 meals) and a load of kitchen towel which we keep in the loft and get down as and when we need it.
£45 in A*di, this included the weekly shop and extras such as kitchen cleaner, toiletries and foil etc that will last for the month.
I used to shop in A*DA and I priced up what I bought yesterday in A*di to compare. I saved £6.33....

The first October weekly food shop has been done! Market (fruit & veg): £8.50 + L*dl £50.20 + Home&Barga*ns £20.12 = £78.82.
We've spent about £13 over our weekly target, but there's a method in the madness - we stocked up on washing detergent which was going for an insanely low price and so we now have enough for the month, and also bought a few bits to put away for Halloween so now worrying about having enough sweets for the kids who knock the day before. We should still hopefully be on track for the month.

Thanks for all the comments on the samosas and yes they were lovely. Happygreen- that's the recipe I used although different filling but still lots of melted butter in between the layers
Have just done 12 portions of cottage pie which is now cooling ready for the freezer later on. I used 500g lean mince beef on offer a while ago in L!dl to £1 and just over 700gms of carrots, celery, mushrooms, onions and oats. (no one of us like lentils so didn't add these and YES we can taste them) I reckon it has cost approx. 25p per portion at the most. :money: The celery was past its best but fine for this dish.MARCH £62.38/2500 -
Hi all
Please add me in.
I know I am a little late but tomorrow is my first grocery shop for October so works well for me.
My target is £240 or under.
We are a family of four. (Ds 10 & Dd 7) + a dog.
If I meal plan and remember to defrost meat and stay organised, I can easily stay in my £60 weekly budget.
BUT I often find it hard to stay on track, and with busy children with after school clubs and meetings, If I become unorganised we can then end up buying quick food from local small (expensive) supermarket, or worse still at the takeaway.
A few of these per week and I can easily double my food budget .
This has to stop as our money is very tight atm.
I have done a stock take of my larder unit and I have tonnes of staples and a chest freezer full of meat. This Should be easy0 -
If you used it against groceries I would certainly count it !!
Thanks for the inputI have minused it from the total
Also added £7.32 spent today on steak seasoning, fajita seasoning, tomato puree, 2 sub rolls, 1 red pepper, 2 YS orange & chocolate croissants, chili infused olive oil & YS orange juice.
Total currently on £27.08.0
