My husband was on first name terms with our local store manager due to numerous complaints of wrong or misleading pricing on the shelves and tellers not giving green points for your own bags.

The supervisor's reply was 'you will have to take it up with head office'.

She was politely but firmly informed that that was not the case and requested to summon the manager.

The store manager who then attended was much more efficient and readily agreed to remedy the situation.

After that he requestd the manager by name.
  • Hi I bought a htc one from tesco superstore 02/04/2014 it had a fault on it so I took it back on 18/04/2014 where they swapped it. This second one has got even more problems: randomly shuts down, can't pick up internet, resets its self, won't transfer data onto computer, keeps locking up, the map on the sat nav is set 2 a house which is not even in my town, tesco are refusing to refund me my money saying I have to get a jiffy bag and get it sent off. Can they do this?

    Regards Claire

Yes they are allowed to repair the item.

Where do they want you to send it to? Or do you mean they are going to send it off for repair for you?
  • i have to send it off to a tesco repair duno where abouts in the country it is haven't received the jiffy bag yet

If they are supplying the bag, I'm guessing it's pre-paid for postage, so yes they are doing what is required of them.
  • right but y can i not just get a swap at the shop instead ov sending it off 4 them 2 check all the faults bearing in mind the 1st 1 was faulty and only 2 weeks old..

Because they are allowed to choose the cheapest option for them, as long as it doesn't cause significant inconvenience, which in this case must be to attempt a repair first.

Also this one is not 2 weeks old (which they replaced for you), it's 4 months old so a different situation.

Only 4 posts before the 'you must work for xxxx' line is trotted out. Impressive! :rotfl:

Yes you do have rights, which is why they are offering to repair the item. If you didn't have any rights, they would just tell you to take a hike!

I'm going to stop trying to help now, as it seems you just want someone to post 'Tesco are horrible and completely wrong here and you are entitled to all your money back immediately'. I'm afraid that's not going to happen though as Tesco are complying with the law, and specifically the Sale of Goods Act.

    P.S. I don't work for Tesco. :D
