Best Way To Open Club Lloyds Joint Account
Comments
-
Oh no!! We don't have any Lloyds branches up here.
200 mile round trip to our nearest one.
We are not ready yet to open a joint Club account, maybe next month, so I hope this can get sorted out before then.0 -
So why, Lloyds Bank, have the PhoneBank team just told me that they can't upgrade our joint Classic account to Club Lloyds over the phone? I don't really want to have to take a trip to a branch with my wife just to do this.
I'm sorry to hear that. When you spoke with my colleague, did they advise why they were unable to do this by phone?
Thanks,

to try and get you in a one to one basis, to try and flog you something you don't require
.just done my second tsb , classic plus, on the phone(,first one online), and have to do it all again tomorrow, and the next day, for two joint accounts.
25 minutes on the phone, but, if you want it, you have to obey.
at least I didn't have to visit a branch.they never consider if you can get to a branch, I'm disabled, so cannot????
debating whether club lloyds is worth the hassle, have 3 empty vantage a/cs.
might upgrade one.0 -

The lady said that in order to upgrade a joint account, they have to go through a lot of stuff (or something) and it takes about 45mins so people don't want to spend that long on the phone. I think that was gist of it. I tried to make the point that you can upgrade an individual Classic account to a Club Lloyds account in about 10 seconds online, so her argument was clearly rubbish. To which she replied that you have to tick boxes to say you've read the T&C's. Whatever. The fact my wife and I both have individual Club Lloyds accounts, so we've individually agreed to the T&C's, didn't seem to wash. I despair sometimes.Give a man a fish, and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, and you’ll get rid of him every weekend.0 -
When you apply online, it is your choice to tick "I have read and agreed" without reading. When you apply on the phone or in person, you have to listen to the entire spiel, you can't just say you agree to something you haven't listened to. They are doing this so you can't at some time in the future claim you were mis-sold the account.0

No, I couldn't - I was told I had to go into a branch. Sorry if that wasn't clear. It sounded like it was their policy not to do it over the phone because it took too long.Give a man a fish, and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, and you’ll get rid of him every weekend.0 -
Not correct. They were warning you of the time scales so that you'd be aware that it was a potentially long phone call - so for example if you were calling from a mobile, you could choose an option that was less expensive.DEBT FREE!

I can assure you I was told that I would need to go to a branch in order to perform the upgrade. I queried it at the time, and the lady was quite adamant. There was no option offered to do it over the phone.
Now, I have an update.
This evening I was able to upgrade the account over the phone. The process took at most 20mins. So I suggest if anyone is refused the upgrade over the phone, try again - you may get a different person and a different answer. And maybe try on a school night rather than the weekend.
Result.Give a man a fish, and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, and you’ll get rid of him every weekend.0
