Best Way To Open Club Lloyds Joint Account

  • Is opening a new Club Lloyds account while retaining existing accounts considered as "converting" an account?

We both have our original Classic and Vantage accounts still open, the Club accounts were opened as new accounts.

If you both currently hold a Club Lloyds account, it won't be possible to open another Club Lloyds account or add this to an existing account online; you'd need to give us a call or visit a branch to do so.

    I hope this helps.

No. A SO is a SO and a DD is a DD.

Can you explain the thinking behind this?
  • Hi drlabman and jennifernil,

As mentioned by a few others on this thread, the online process will only allow customers to convert one account to Club Lloyds. To add Club Lloyds to a second account, please give our PhoneBank team a call on 01733 347 007.

    Thanks,

    Cheryl

Thanks for that. I don't doubt you're correct, but it's kind of daft. What could they possibly gain, or confirm, by having us call up? It's surely not beyond the wit of man, or your software engineers, to include checks to verify that when the account being upgraded is a joint account that each person has at most one individual Club Lloyds account.

Where our customers already hold an AVA or Club Lloyds account, we don't allow a second account of the same type to be opened online. This is to prevent our customers from unintentionally agreeing to (potentially) two monthly account fees.

However, we appreciate that some customers wish to hold more than one of these accounts simultaneously and, as such, can arrange for these to be opened via PhoneBank (01733 347 007) or any one of our branches.

Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience this procedure has caused, & I'll certainly ensure everyone's comments on the matter are duly recorded.

    Thanks,

    Graeme

Ha! It gets better. I called the PhoneBank team and they say they can't do it over the phone and that I have to go into a branch.

So why, Lloyds Bank, have the PhoneBank team just told me that they can't upgrade our joint Classic account to Club Lloyds over the phone? I don't really want to have to take a trip to a branch with my wife just to do this.
