I already stated it. That I've been finding unusually inexpensive flights for many years now. You claim that these fares:in general, the fares you refer to (in a lot of cases) can require a positioning flight, ungodly flight times, long layovers, cramped cabins etc.
That was a direct flight. Other flights that I have booked may be direct or might have a 90 min to a 2 hour stopover. I prefer stopovers on long haul flights. I get more to eat and time to stretch my legs.
Some deals do have a positioning flight. An example of one that I booked recently, saving at least £300 off the usual fare, flies out from a European country.
I intend to arrive early, put my luggage in storage and have an nice day out in the city. Then to go back to the airport for my night flight. Certainly not an imposition to me. I get to enjoy a mini city break. Certainly not a problem for the retired with time on their hands. They can even lengthen their stay if it is a city to their liking.
I don't care as to whether they appeal to you or malkie76, who strangely, appear apt to boast that you book the more spacious cabins in long haul.
This is a website aimed at consumers spending less. I can guarantee that no one here cares whether they appeal to you or not. Your elitist stance makes your posts even less palatable. But you have sunk so low, that I'm sure that neither of you care anymore.0 -
Well this descended into a bit of a b!tchfest.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

Well, I was thinking that seeing as Niftydigits and dickydonkin are both so determined to have a !!!!!! waving contest, they should really upload photographs of their tackle onto photobucket and let the rest of us decide who's the winner.0

No...you weren't.
Another quality poster.... it's one thing having an on-topic debate. But posting completely off topic is just Trolling.0 -
There are 2 posters on here who are very vociferous about error fares being cancelled/amended yet neither of them have ever booked one and neither can point to it ever happening from the UK.
In fact one of them goes on to make a point thet they would never fly economy class.
does beg the question as to why they are so interested
Nifty thanks for the insight0 -

Just to ensure other posters are aware of their lack of legal support, should an airline decide to cancel their ticket. At least we all agree on that point - whether it is likely or unlikely to occur is irrelevant.
Too often on this forum posters arrive with an issue after an event which could have been avoided.yet neither of them have ever booked one
I'm not sure you can make that claim. Certainly you cannot for me, but I cannot make a comment on behalf of another poster.and neither can point to it ever happening from the UK.
Haven't, or can't ? It's an irrelevant point I'm afraid. Besides, although the majority of posters here are UK based, many are not. Furthermore many posters from the UK do buy tickets for travel in other countries, making information about the activities of other airlines extremely important.
Frequently people post an itinerary containing domestic flights in the US as part of an open-jaw journey. In fact one of them goes on to make a point thet they would never fly economy class.
Which poster was that ? I didn't make that statement.
Isn't that an irrelevant point given that error fares also appear in other classes ? The remark was in response to the notion that I was 'sour' that I'd missed on an error fare in long haul economy - I replied by saying that wouldn't have interested me in the slightest, hence why would I be disappointed ?
The important point (which is why I bothered to post), is that there is no guarantee that an airline would honour an error fare. It's up to the poster to take the chance, but personally I certainly would not. I'd prefer to be confident that my travel plans were going ahead as far as reasonably possible.Legal team on standby0 -
Anyone genuinely interested in mistake fares rather than a willy waving competition may find the threads on the millage run forums at flyertalk interesting.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Of course it is relevant.

Neither you nor dickydonkin have ever booked an error fare, yet here you are posting away as if you have some knowledge and experience.

Sorry but you are just rambling. You should have packed it in when you suggested that you would

What on earth has this to do with anything? I have a domestic flight in my USA itinerary. And?
Which poster was that ? I didn't make that statement.
Erm....wasn't this you?I'm not sour, and I definitely would not fly anywhere long haul in economy no matter the cost saving.

Stop digging. We can't drag you out as it is

We know that there is no guarantee. You should have stopped posting at that point, as your knowledge and experience doesn't extend further

I don't know why I am wasting my time again, but just to clarify this point that is seemingly directed at me, can you please highlight where I have stated on this thread that I 'would never fly economy class'?
If you read my posts thoroughly, you will see I quoted:dickydonkin wrote: »
You don't know me - you don't know my travel patterns - and as I am the wrong side of fifty, over those years I can certainly state that I have travelled the world extensively - on many carriers, aircraft and cabins - thankfully nowadays moreso in the pointy end of the plane
Just to add, I never pay full price for a J or First cabin (I am not a Tesco tourist either), but flying regularly allows me to take advantage of FF loyalty schemes which allows me to travel in a more comfortable cabin.
I too could show recent examples of great deals I have enjoyed, but to be honest, I just cannot be bothered.0
