Last time we had GiffGaff on an iPhone, data was snailpace slow even in strong O2 signal areas. Does GiffGaff offer 4g? Only then would data speed caps mean anything. The non-integrated voicemail was also a real annoyance.
Yes they do 4G goodybags as well, think mine costs £12 a month.
No complaints here.Save save save!!0 -
I love three's 3-2-1 pay as you go plan:
3p/min
2p/text
1p/MB
A £10 top-up lasts me ages0 -
There is no change in our house. I have the £5 bag and DS has the £7.50 one.0

giffgaff only offer a £10 trial by application (ends 31/10/14) 4G goodybag that has a limited 1GB data allowance. According to a recent posts most users find that more than enough and didn't exceed the allowance. lol at £20.48 per GB for more it's not surprising.
Many customers report its 4G is also slow during the day and not as fast as 3G on some other networks. Unless a customer spends 100% of their time in an 02 4G area with a 4G connection it means using up allowance on giffgaff 3G. Nasty...
I recently tried giffgaff in a lot of places and its data is crap during the day time between about 10 and midnight.0 -
Except Three does have the infrastructure to deal with it, they have back haul deals with both Openreach and Virgin Media (the Virgin deal was signed to boost the backup after 4G was launched).
O2 (and therefore Giffgaff) have spent peanuts on network improvement, that is why the network is so slow and easily congested in many areas.
I left O2 and joined Three over 6 months ago. and from all around the northwest i can confirm that three's network is far better than what O2's was when i was with them.
O2's lack of network maintenance was highlighted when my own nearby mast developed a fault with O2 and after a month or so of O2 saying there was nothing wrong i decided to leave.
it was another month or so before it was rectified but its still not the same. (my neighbor was with O2 so thats how i knew)0 -
I challenge anyone to get a result like this on giffgaff. It's not possible. Three is worth EVERY PENNY.
I can't understand why there is so much support for them and their inferior service. We’ve had to remove your signature because your opinion differs from ours. It is possible to record decent 3G speeds on giffgaff after about 00:30 and before peak day starts around 09-10:00. The problem is during the peak day period when many people will want to use their data device the speed is generally really slow to unusable. On giffgaff I typically get around 0.5Mbps when I can even get 3G during peak day compared to my other provider that's usually >10Mbps at the same time/places and giffgaff data is also very patchy when mobile.0 -
its my daughter who is on giffgaff, she uses 3G out and about, she has never mentioned slow data speeds to me (and believe me she'd moan her head off if her beloved Apple devices didn't work speedily enough for her).0

Giff gaff aside I am curious, just out of interest, what would I do with that speed on a phone? I really don't know.
Most web pages don't take long to load with any thing over 0.5Mb/s, email only needs a fraction of that most other apps only need a trickle of data.
Apart from streaming video, which I don't need as I have content preloaded in memory.
Not saying it wouldn't be nice, but can't see it actually making my life any better in real terms.
What is more important is continuity of signal and I would say O2 is dropping the ball there for sure. Its unacceptable that when both parties are stationary (so staying on the same masts with good signals), that a call should be dropped with 'network busy'. Hey! I was using it! give 'network busy' to people trying to connect, not cut off people already connected!0
