I'm sorry but overtaking in a 1 litre VW Up, or an old rubbish DAF/Triumph is just dangerous. Joe Horner I can assure you that you will never be able to overtake my M3 even if I were driving at a leisurely pace to only 3k rpm and you're highly mistaken if you even think that the M3 you overtook was even trying.

    [...]

We do respect the non-M 6 cylinder BMW's but anything below no, and trying to overtake in any low powered Fiat or Ford should be made illegal.

If you actually read my post, it wasn't about overtaking M series. It was a throwaway line about "M3 drivers" (behind me) maybe getting held up when I pull out to overtake while they're still daydreaming about the size of their engine.

Frankly, your "other cars should never overtake" displays about as much awareness of road skills as those guys at BRAKE who think we should all be preceeded by a man with a red flag.

It's perfectly safe to overtake in anything in the right situation, whether that's a 1l Polo, a 746cc Daf or anything else. If you honestly believe otherwise then you really need to learn to read the road better before that big willy substitute of yours gets you into trouble :)

darkmatter101: I too am an active member on several BMW forums.

I have had M cars since 1985 and years before that the fastest BMW in the world at the time - the fastest 4 seater, 4 door production car in the world bar none, when it came off the production line in Dingolfing.

I understand exactly what you are saying - but I find your attitude condescending.

I too have been to BMW Car Club meets and shows and I have to laugh at people who give the rest of the world signs of feeling so superior as you give all impressions of being.

Freude am Fahren has nothing to do with having the fastest accelerating car on the road.

Ignorant racism. I live in Birmingham and share the roads daily with Asian drivers. They are no better or worse than any other race or culture.
What happened?. Out of your depth driving in Birmingham you had another dispute with a driver who happened to be Asian. Did you film it?.

I swear...... This ^^ is what's wrong with this country, you can't speak the truth without being accused of racism.

I'd say the same of anyone if it were true!!! If i'd said Germans nobody would bat an eyelid!

You can't just keep shutting people up with the R word.

It's attitudes like this that resulted in the authorities ignoring these grooming gangs, because they just saw skin colour instead of the crime!!

In my post above I explained why many are such poor drivers, like anyone going to ANY country in the world and trying navigate around a large city, with street signs you can't read and road rules you've never even heard of........ Far from from racism, I was justifying the way they drive, to point out that it's not deliberate bad driving, it's just all a lot of them know!

And more to the point this had lead from me explaining why this RAC driver may have been grinning like a crazy person.........

Out of interest, why do you think that driving in Birmingham is "deeper" than driving anywhere else in the country?

Personally, I've always found it much sketchier driving in Birmingham and London - and have always thought the higher percentages of foreign drivers play a role. Apparently that's just ignorant racism, so why do you think people drive so much worse in large cities?

I don't think its deeper(?). Strider finds it "a complex road system with people who can't read road signs/markings and it's complete mayhem." apparently.

I haven't suggested people are poorer drivers in cities. You find it "sketcheir" and think foreign drivers are the reason. Are there a higher percentage of foreign drivers in cities?. Whats your definition of a foreign driver?.

Trouble is, you are tarring a group with the same brush, whether it be colour race, gender, sexuality, religion, not everyone is to be banded woth the same brush, do white british males not break any laws of any kind? A person of reasonable intelligence would see this, it's dissapointing that you do not see a flaw in your post.

Well I would - both you and Car 54 obviously do not really understand what racism is.

Terrible aren't they - makes one proud to be British doesn't it.

With our Royal Family having no connections to that country whatsoever - good English name 'Windsor' or 'Mountbatten'.

At least we didn't think up the concept of concentration camps.

And none of our great statesmen would ever have advocated sterilization of the handicapped and disabled, would they?

Car 54 - Where are you? Not in the real world apparently. :rotfl:

You're assuming that because someone is Asian they were born in another country.

"I explained why many are such poor drivers". Who said many are poor drivers?

Race has nothing to do with anything I have said....... The characteristics and behaviour of a person come from their social and family background. But because this country can't figure out how to integrate other ethnic minorities into "British culture" as a whole and because people still see them as some sort of animals that must be protected from the big bad white person, they don't have the chance to actually integrate properly with British culture/law/etc.

You see, this attitude of jumping down peoples throats and calling them racist, actually just shows you as racist yourself, because you clearly see them as different, as inferior and in need of constant defence.
Prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one’s own race is superior:
If you think they can't stand up for themselves, then you clearly assume that you are superior!!

This is the last I have to say on the matter, this thread is going to get deleted and I really CBA with arguing with such arrogance.
