Pardon my cynical reply but;
Many sympathies to your friend. It's been over 5 months since I sent back some forms to MyCSP in response to their request and I've heard nothing, just the usual promise we'll get back to you in 10 days after I spend half an hour on their "helpline".
If these issues affected private sector pensions the media would have it on the front page every day. I've seen one small article in the Guardian about the MyCSP issues and heard a 30 second snippet on Radio 4's Money Box and that's it.
But, as it affects civil servants they just don't care.0 -
Can you or anyone tell me should my friend have received a claim form to complete in order to obtain her civil service widows pension ?
Need to be forearmed when they have to be chased again0 -
When my mother-in-law was widowed in 2010, I remember she received some paperwork and figures (from Capita who administered it back then) and I'm pretty sure she had to send something back to agree the figures and/or lodge her claim.
Do expect quite a wait though...
It has just taken MyCSP almost 8 weeks just to send me the simple form that enables me to claim my own pension - not to pay my pension you understand, just to send me the claim form! And that was only after numerous phone calls and several ignored e-mails, complaints via this forum, a letter to the CEO, and eventually having to get my MP involved!
You wouldn't believe that the simple act of just getting the form to claim my pension could possibly be so complex or take that long, but there we are. Goodness knows how long I'll be waiting for the claim itself to be processed and my pension to be put into payment...
I sent my letter of complaint by recorded delivery to the CEO on 15th November and was promised a reply by 2nd December. Still waiting, a month after posting.
Small comfort to your friend, and may we extend every sympathy at this upsetting time, but just warning you of the frustrating and utterly abysmal level of "service" you can expect from MyCSP.
I keep double-checking the company strapline, but it still says: "MyCSP - First for our customers First for our people First in the market"
Don't know who they're trying to kid, but they've got a sense of humour, I'll give them that!:rotfl:
You know, I don't even blame the staff, who I'm sure are trying their best. It comes from those at the top of the company and the politician who presided over this mess, Francis Maude.0 -
Well still no sign of my money in my account, what a surprise? Not! So now the time has passed and I can only now complain, and supposedly it will get "expedited". We all know what that means, nothing will happen. So my poor MP Vince Cable who has far more important things to do than sort my WPS refund, will be receiving a letter.Paddle No 21 :wave:0

The whole debacle is a disgrace because my friend is in problems financially and has no idea how much pension she will get

Is the information on page 14 relevant?and I'm pretty sure she had to send something back to agree the figures and/or lodge her claim.
I note that on the PCSPS site for NI it says
"In the event of your death, your next of kin or personal representative should notify us as soon as possible, quoting your pension reference number. We will then issue an application form for any eligible widow/er, surviving civil partner, children or other dependant to claim a pension.
Any benefits overpaid because we are not aware of your death or change of entitlement must be refunded. In the event of your death, we will tell your next of kin or personal representative of any amount overpaid and will seek recovery."
Is it likely to be the same for England and Wales?0 -
OK
She has had NO FORMS at all only the death certificate was returned in August 2014 by Capita
No assessment of future pension was received with the P60 back in April 2014 that is what puzzles me most
All she knows is the pension will not be as much as when he was alive presumably because some was commuted around 20 yrs ago
He retired early after they married and was 77 when he died
( yes I could strangle him for not ensuring she knew her full position ) they had been married 26 years0 -

According to booklet (see link)
"If you have exchanged (commuted) part
of your pension for an additional lump
sum, this will not generally affect the
pension for your husband, wife or civil
partner as their pension will be based
on your pension before you decided to
commute."No assessment of future pension was received with the P60 back in April 2014 that is what puzzles me most
Whose future pension? The widow's? Would you expect there to be?
Presumably the formula to which reference is made in my previous post would apply, assuming the late spouse was a member of Classic?0 -
I know other people with pension funds that were based on the Civil Service one who every year get a notice of what their pension will be plus it also includes how much their spouse /beneficiary will get
So thought the CS one worked on same principal .........I do not at this point know which scheme he was in but it must have been whatever was in place when they got married 26 yrs ago and that was before he retired
No doubt all will become clear if MyCsp ever get off their rear ends to sort it out0 -
I can't even get some forms out of MyCSP.
My wife died recently and on the 1st Dec I called them to inform them of her death. They said they'd put some forms for me to complete in the post. On the 8th, I called to say the forms hadn't arrived. The Royal Mail was blamed and they said replacement forms would be sent. I then called last Friday ( 12th ) after no forms had arrived and the Royal Mail was again blamed. I was asked to leave the matter until Monday ( today ) giving the Royal Mail(!) a chance to deliver the forms. So, I called them today after not receiving anything and once again they blamed the Royal Mail and would not listen to me when I pointed out how unlikely that is. All the person would do is put more forms in the 'post' tomorrow ( why not today? ).
Contrast this with the Teacher's Pension Agency who I first contact on the 4th. I received their forms (6th), returned them (8th) and I have got my supporting documents ( death cert etc ) back from them (13th). Clearly nothing wrong with the Royal Mail in that instance.
Having found this thread, I now realise just how useless this lot appear to be.
So, if no forms arrive by Thursday's post, I shall start contacting people as advised in this thread.0 -
