my first dog was a Staffie - and she was usually very good about not stealing food. except one Christmas Eve when we all came home about tea time to find her hiding behind the settee - I couldn't work out why until I noticed torn wrapping paper under the Christmas tree. She had unwrapped my dads Christmas pressie (the biggest box of chocolate liquers I could find - at least 50 chocs!). the box was behind the settee with her and no trace of the chocolates or the foil wrappers. We phoned the vets as her breath stank of alcohol and he said 'Bring her in but don't let her drive!' Ha Ha! my poor OH spent Christmas worrying that the large cheque he wrote the vet would 'bounce' as we were very nearly spent out by then. luckily the vet hadn't presented it until after his next pay went in! The dog? oh she was absolutely fine after the vet made her sick - but she had a horrendous hangover on Christmas morning. it was funny the way she winced every time one of the kids squeeled with pleasure or excitement!

When the dog I have now was a pup, we left him in the car outside a shop with our older dog to supervise for literally 5 minutes. Came back to a sea of wires. He'd found the airbag wires under the passenger seat and had a good chew and tug of war with them.

The airbag light was showing and hubby went off on one...said he'd have to call the AA as God only knew what would happen when he turned the key in the ignition yada yada.

The AA guy said he'd be with us within the hour and did we need him to call anyone for us? "Yeah." growled hubby. "the f*ckin' dogs' home..."

These stories make Pipsqueak sound like an angel :rotfl:

She had a few accidents indoors after I got her, including doing a poop on my bed. She also stole socks although she didn't chew them.

Recently, she was sick on my bed in the middle of the night - I had an important exam that morning so really didn't need to be changing the sheets at 3am...Other than that, she chases shadows and sunbeams and spins in circles when excited. Oh, and she still legs it if I let her off the lead in an area with trees. I'm starting to think she's agoraphobic ;)

Oh dear - reading above I have an angel at home.

As a puppy - ate my most expensive and loved pair of sandals plus a corner of a John Luis bedside cabinet.

Later on - inside of the bedroom door when I accidentally shut her in and for a coffee to a neighbour.

And recently - took the under sink door off the hinges (ripped off with the hinges I mean) to get to some cat treats.

And that is all - my Zara is an absolute angel, honest...

Rusty was a good dog really, but only got told off twice, Once a few days after we got him from the RSPCA and he decided to peel the hall wallpaper off. The other was with a Roast Chicken.

We always gave him chicken, but boiled chicken as otherwise roast chicken made his farts honl ! lol.

We cooked our sunday roast and plated it up, to sit in front of the TV. All was quiet, until we heard a thud. I went out to the kitchen to find the chicken on the floor with no skin on it. He had pulled it off the top of the unit and licked it all over and ate the skin! lol. OH shouted at him ( one of the only times Rusty was told off) and he crawled into the lounge on his belly, so frightened. He must have thought to himself, '' They always give me chicken, they must have forgot, so I will help myself''

The funniest time was his 14th Birthday. We bought him a M&S Victoria sandwich cake with a 1&4 shaped candle on top. We lit the candles and put it in front of him to take a picture. He got frightened of the flames,so I blew them out. Before I could get my camera going, he dived on the cake and had 1/2 of it in his mouth! We were going to have some too. lol

Oh brought back memories, god do I miss him .

As a puppy, ours would chew buckles etc off shoes. We had to hide any shoes that had any sort of decoration on them.

He also had a penchant for chewing the part of the wire next to the plug, although thankfully this behaviour didn't last long. We came home one day to a pile of loose plug-heads in the living room. Terrifying really as a lot of them were plugged in, although the switches were off.

He also loves my dad to pieces, well, perhaps loves him a 'bit' too much. Whenever my dad comes to visit, or we go to my parents, he will climb up on the sofa, go around the back and attempt to make sweet sweet love to my dad's head.

We went to pets at home on saturday to buy our little jack russell alfie a new collar/lead (hes 3 this month) ... we took him in with us as we always do - my and my dh were discussing leads/collars which ones are best ect and could hear a few little ones gigging behind us - we turned around to see they were giggling at the fact the Alfie had decided to do a number 2 in the store!! My DH was quickly handed the poopbags as I turned away and pretended I wasnt with them lol - I was sooo embarressed! Ironicly he did it right in front of the poop bag stand!

My two both have their moments.

My choc lab is just a greedy bin-raider - tissues, old socks, plastic. Sometimes I only have to look at him to know he's been naughty - the puppy dog eyes are something else. He did once steal a sandwich out of a childs hand too - tres embarrassing.

My yellow lab is a rescue and needs routine and to know he's loved. When I moved house, he ate all my cushions and his own bed in frustration! He's calmed down now and the last thing he had a nibble of was a blanket.

Reading other posts, I think I've got off lightly!

Mine has been quite good (aside from DH's wallet which he ate but that served DH right for leaving a leather wallet near a chewy puppy), but Mum's Shih Tzu Charlie is a nightmare.

So far he's eaten 2 pairs of glasses, a remote control, the legs to the kitchen dresser and 2 door frames.

He's eaten a full strip of Mums water tablets which she knocked off the side and didn't see him grab, resulting in a trip to the vets and lots of charcoal.

He picked something up on a walk (we think it might have been a firework) resulting in a 48 hour admission to the vets for sickness and diarrhoea.

His latest escapade was to manage to squeeze under a gate (after getting out of a closed door which we think the wind had caught just enough for him to nose his way out) and run into the road to try and get to Mum who was talking to a neighbour on the opposite side of the road. He's a very lucky little dog - the car that hit him wasn't going especially fast and aside from bruising he fractured his hock and has been plastered up for the last 4 weeks.

He is just one. God help us.

My favourite story of my beloved Jeff (passed away last week) happened about 4 years ago.

Was sitting down with my family to watch Forrest Gump (side note: for the first time, Step-dad ruined the ending for me!!).

My mum poured a small glass of Baileys, popped it on a coaster by the sofa and went for a cigarette. She came back to an empty glass and a very drunk dog! :rotfl:

It was the funniest thing ever, he couldn't climb onto his dog bed, which was a big (but not massively thick) pillow.

    Oh, I miss him..
