I'm pretty sure you made the situation for the employee worse there. Making the manager make an insincere apology to one of his staff is only going to make things worse for the employee.

That's a bit below the belt. I eat in Wetherspoons quite often,I've never had a problem, good food at sensible prices.

Yes I agree. This website seems to exist mainly to benefit people who need to save money e.g. people from lower incomes.

Yet if anyone posts anything about going to a cheaper restaurant like Weatherspoons, or dares to visit a Mcdonalds they get abused by people who say its beneath them!

I've never seen MSE that way.

Moneysaving isn't just for those on lower incomes. Moneysaving isn't even about getting the cheapest item. For me it's about getting the best value for money. I know plenty of people who definitely aren't lower income on anyone's scale who still want to make sure they don't waste money.

An example- a reasonable bottle of wine reduced from £15 to £10 isn't the cheapest -I could buy cheaper at say Aldi say £3 but I don't like cheap wine so the Aldi wine wouldn't be good value to me but the wine I like reduced in price by a third is . It's still moneysaving.

For what they charge Wetherspoons offer good value. They don't pretend to be anything they aren't. You can get a wide choice of well priced meals from early in the day til late at night- and I know from personal professional experience their standards of cleaning in the kitchens is high -higher than many more expensive eating places. It is probably hard to keep your nose in the air whilst suffering from food poisoning I understand

Very soon they will reach their 1000th pub opening and their profits prove their value for money food offering is working.
They are the most successful pub company in the UK and only opened their first pub in 1979.
No other pub chain has had growth to match this.

Sounds like you should spend more time on a website like hotukdeals than MSE. That would tell you where to get cheaper bottles of wine etc.

They do seem to provide decent cheap drinks but I prefer smaller independent places, when available.

All it actually proves is the effect of a lowest common denominator. There are a lot of crappy drinking establishments out there, all Wetherspoons are doing is being equally crappy but cheaper too. The average UK pub goer has no class, or taste, so are price-led into these soulless drinking caverns.

The rest of us will enjoy value for money food and drink whilst your in the local chippy.
