If your worried your cards may have gone astray, contact Lloyds and ask if they have sent them out.

Mastercard are taking over Visa cards left, right and centre. How come it never happens the other way?

Halifax changed all their debit cards to Visa products a couple of years ago.

Mastercard seem to be favourite for credit cards and Visa for debit cards.

They've send me a letter too, I'm unhappy about the change, I don't want two cards for one product - how ridiculous. I'm probably going to cancel entirely as I don't collect AirMiles either.

I'm aware you can ring and switch to a single Mastercard product, but I already have a Mastercard, little point in having two.

(Note you have to ring 0800 055 6096 by 15th Aug to switch to a single Mastercard product.)

Why are so many VISA being switched to Mastercard?

Yes, there does appear to be a diminishing band of Visa card providers. It seems to be RBS and HBOS that have made the move - with the result that the likes of Mint, IF, Sainsbury's Bank, etc. are all moving from Visa to MasterCard as a result of the parent company. Funny how some provide both though - likes of Barclaycard - and first direct provide a Maestro debit card and Visa credit card.
  • I called today customer helpline to ask about my cards. They told me that cards haven't been sent and it may take up to 60 days after appearance of cards in internet banking.

Haven't got any replacements at all :( Had the letter in late July, heard nothing since...
  • Does this mean that my existing card will no longer be valid? As it lasts until August 2008 what will happen? I work in Tanzania and I am reluctant to send the card over here by post.
