Bangkok Phuket Singapore and Dubai - Easter 2015

Dosh yes, I need to remind myself that I will go back, this is just a taster.....
So many places to go such little time!
On the plus side my SA Christmas holiday planning is almost complete!0 -
We arrive BKK on Friday 27 March at 12h00, I'm hoping we won't be that tired because we would've slept on the plane, so that now means we have full Saturday and Sunday. Our flight to KVB departs at 14h15 on the Monday, as it's an internal flight I THINK we need to be at the airport by 13h00 (I will double check this).
So we arrive and acclimatise.......possibly walk around depending how tired we feel.
Boxing is still a question mark, but the Lumpinee 21h00 is the one we'd like to catch.
I'm not staying in Phuket, we are flying to Krabi (Koh Lanta).
Daily tours are taking up my research currently (I do love this part of planning a holiday).
I'm disappointed to find that I can't do Koh Samui on a day trip!
I hadn't seen your latest itinerary(headache)
So hopefully you be able to fit it in. Perhaps do the river and sightseeing on one day and the malls and Muay Thai on the other.0 -

Personally I'd stay on Phra Athit. The New Siam Riverside Hotel is an excellent mid-range place, right on the Chao Phraya River, a lovely terrace and swimming pool, super al fresco buffet breakfast, and a fraction of the cost of some other hotels mentioned. The Navalai River Resort which is right on Pier 13 is also excellent, but a bit more expensive than the New Siam.
And because the New Siam Hotel is v.close to Pier 13, it's easy and quick to catch a orange flag public ferry to reach Central Pier for the BTS to Siam etc. Here's a review I (LancasterLad) posted on TA when we stayed there...

Phra Athit is also close to a lot of attractions, and only a few minutes walk from loads of restaurants and bars, and 15 minutes walk from Khao San (but there's plenty to pass and loiter on the way). Some excellent cheap street food stalls too.0 -
I hope the boats are less busy then they have been these past few days. we gave up on them, they were manic!travelover0

The boats are always like that. It's all part of the Bangkok experience and for many routes it is the best way to get around the place.
The tourist boat is a good idea for a first timer but once you get used to how they work then the regular services are fine. For around 30p a trip they are one of the best bargains in Bangkok. You just have to be aware that they stop running around 7pm each day.0 -

Which allows plenty of time for sightseeing, and getting back to Phra Athit to spend the night enjoying all that Banglamphu has to offer after dark.
A couple examples of train fares from Bangkok...
- Hualamphong to Ayutthaya (the ancient capital of Siam) is 15 baht (fifteen) each way. Plenty of trains, takes 2.5 hours, and a great day out, but better to stay overnight.
- Thonburi to Kanchanaburi (Bridge over the River Kwai, WWII history) is 100 baht each way. Two trains a day, takes 3 hours. Best to overnight or two to soak up the atmosphere.
Here's the Man-in-Seat61 pages on Kanchanaburi...

Great place to spend a few days.0 -
