Rant about asda

Since they will probably want photo ID then you are limited to passport or driving licence. I don't include the various 'ID cards' that you can buy as they are not widely accepted.
Having one of the above 2 IDs is not a given. I know a number of people ranging in age from 20 to 60 who have neither.
So yes, it is possible that a 33yo does not have a suitable form of ID that the store would be happy with.
As a matter of interest, there is no legislation that requires you to carry your driving licence. Mine sits at home, I never carry it.
"acceptable" ID can be a problem. I had my expired passport refused as ID by a bank, and I don't usually carry my driving licence around with me.0 -

Strange that the OP posted originally on 5/9 and hasn't been back since despite 8 pages of replies.
Maybe he returned to Asda later with his father and grandfather to attempt to buy alcohol without id and was arrested......:rotfl:
I wonder why he chose to return with his father instead of id.
If he really looks under 25 surely he'll have problems getting served in pubs too so he'd need some form of id.
Maybe he takes his father to airports as proof of id when he's flying out somewhere.
No more like school started back in the first week of September so most likely too busy with homework lolHappiness, Health and Wealth in that order please!:A0 -
But when the staff are wrong (see above from the poster that says he/she ALWAYS asks for ID regardless, also the cases in the press of pensioners being asked) and the manager can see this but still supports them, as happens, then that just makes the staff, manager, store and their inflexible policy look idiotic and brings the whole system into disrepute.
Indeed. There is always the law of unintended consequences with this kind of thing.
I understand that ID Checks are now a major cause of aggravation for retail staff, for example.0
