Is ipad air the best tablet?

I hate taking the "Apple Fan Boys" side on this one. I don't like Apple (the company) and know they are overpriced but somehow I ended up owning a Macbook pro, an iPad and an iPhone and they just work.
People used to tell me to buy apple devices as they will change my life and thats a load of rubbish but they do work. The iPhone I had for a year now never froze and it just works whereas my old Samsung Galaxy Note used to do so quite often.
But the most important thing is the after sales support and warranty or how easy would be to get a replacement.
I bought my Macbook earlier this year and the mouse broke a few weeks ago. I went into the Apple store and I walked out with a new replacement within less than 20 minutes so if that matters to you than I would suggest you go for the iPad.
I hope that helps.0 -
another android/windows loser.....why dont you just try the alternative for six months, I guarantee you would never go back...
android = fragmented crap OS
windows = joke OS (the only reason microsoft ever succeeded in the desktop area was due to their superior marketing, their products are junk.
have used windows for years and converted about 5 years ago, apple products are worth their premium....but hey stick with your virus ridden, driver shoddy crap environment, who cares...
Flash = so last year, html5 is the future.
To the OP if you want a product that just works and has the best customer support in the world get the iPad, you won't regret it.
Just because Android doesn't suit you, doesn't mean that it doesn't suit others. I've used it for almost 3 years and I've never had a virus. A closed, proprietary operating system like iOS wouldn't suit me at all - I've seen it on other people's phones and you can't even access the filesystem. I think iOS is fine for people who are inexperienced with IT (or who aren't bothered about advanced customisation), but many more advanced techies will find it frustrating and too limiting.
I use Linux on the desktop. I like open source software as you have a lot of flexibility to do whatever you want. But I think calling Windows users "losers" is really unhelpful. They use it because that's what they're used to from school and/or work, and also because it's pre-installed on the majority of computers. It has probably never occurred to them to try anything else.0 -

The touchscreen controls for cars are AWFUL! It's been shown time and again that it's best to use a steering wheel and pedals when controlling cars, and anyone who thinks that moving to a touchscreen is a good idea is CRAZY! You will be swiping the screen trying to park and you'll be taking out grannies left, right and centre! You'll try to swipe a gear change and end up in reverse while doing 60 on the motorway! You'll get an incoming call that fills the screen and not be able to avoid splattering Mister Fluffykins (Watford's most famous squirrel) all over the asphalt!
Please, PLEASE ask your wife to use the steering wheel and pedals to control the car! I know touchscreens are "cool" nowadays, but it's just not worth it. Think of the children!!!Q: What kind of discussions aren't allowed?

Another generalisation that is completely wrong. I have been in IT for over 20 years and use Unix/Linux heavily at work as well as windows. Linux, although it has greatly improved with Ubuntu etc is still no where near OSX as a desktop OS. Linux/Unix is a great stable server OS and is best used in that environment. OSX can be as advanced (with scripting etc) or easy as you want to make it. I know numerous people with similar experience who are dumping PC's for Macs because they want something reliable and usable without the headaches.
I use apple products including OSX for the chance to use a stable 99% virus free secure environment (ok nothing is 100% secure but its a hell of a lot better than windows).
You will find that while yes a lot of IT novices use apple products (as they do not care nor need to know about device drivers etc) a lot of skilled IT professionals use it because it just works without the hassle of endless tuning/patching etc that windows needs.
I think the more experienced you become with IT you will realise just how much better choosing apple/OSX is over other/windows technology.
oh and if you want to dabble with IOS devices just jailbreak them....you can always restore back to factory when you need to trade up and noone is the wiser.
and btw the virus comment was aimed more at windows users.....although they are still more common on android than ios devices.
the frustrating thing is hearing family/friends etc constantly moan about the latest issue with their windows system but because they are blinded by microsoft marketing they foolishly won't try anything else. The few that have, like me, would never go back.0 -

I'm sorry. I was crying with laughter after I read your joke posts, and I just wanted to join in.
Edit: Here's an article that covers the Macboy spoof you're presenting, zarf!
"There are only 2 types of people that buy a Mac:
1) Wannabe nerdy-types that are trying to prove how knowledgeable they are about everything in the tech world
2) Wannabe hipster-types that are trying to prove how knowledgeable (read: trendy and/or “not trendy”) they are about everything in general"Q: What kind of discussions aren't allowed?

The nexus android tablets are the best on the market by a long way (quality, spec and price) much better than any apple or windows tablet.
Android has a much better ui which is intuitive, where as apples ui you have to learn.
You can do everything you want on both, it is just everything is easier to do on android.
Many apps that you have to pay for on apple are free or much cheaper on android.
Little things will annoy you with apple products like the charger, if it breaks (which is will) you have to buy an expensive replacement. Whereas pretty much every other electrical product on the market used micro USB so you can by cheap good quality replacements.
The end of the day, both products will do what you want and have similar hardware spec. It is just the android version will be easier to use, cheaper to buy and to own and less annoying when and if things or accessories go wrong or break."talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish" - Euripides0 -
I bought a tablet a couple of months ago.
An Android one for less than £70 (when cashback is taken into account)
Does me for watching TV and reading when I am working away from home, which is all I need it for.
No point in paying a lot of money for features I will never use.
OH has an iPad as it is more suited to their needs.0 -

Never found the Apple UI to be a problem, in fact it is one of the big selling points.
I find doing things on an Apple product no more difficult or easy than an Android one.
I have never broken an Apple accessory, nor an Android one so never thought of that as a problem.
I have no paid for apps on either my Apple or Android devices so that hasn't been a concern.
One advantage if you do have an issue with Apple is that, if you are near a store, they do provide very good help and backup.0 -

The Apple staff are no help what so ever. My partner bought a brand new iPhone, every time the battery got to 30% it turned off. So we passed an Apple store and asked them to fix it, they all said including the manager and the head genius that sorry that's just what happens we can't do anything about it.
And just gave us a list of things to turn off such as vibration, dim the screen brightness etc. To extend the time it took to get to 30% battery life and then turn off.
In my experience the help is terrible.another example of the bad service, is I was given MacBook which had no end of problems Apple staff were useless and one occasion I asked for Windows office for Mac and the genius told me it doesn't exist (which it does) .
I think they can help with very basic problems like how do I take a photo but anything else they are useless.
Since getting rid of every Apple product we stick to opensourse every thing because it all just works ( and its cheap)"talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish" - Euripides0
